why won't the piston move I took off the spark plug, and I see it not moving when I turn the crank and while holding down the clutch on the handlebars

can I get by with just the catch can to the valve cover hose? Only things I’ll change are exhaust and intake/air cleaner. Not even sure I need a larger main jet running that factory carb?
