Have you showed them a rotary phone yet?
I have a working one on the kitchen wall.
By working, I mean it will ring and I can answer it, but that's all it will do.
I showed my daughters one when we were at a Goodwill store. Having seen depictions of old-timey phones in their story books, they knew what it was. I showed them how you had to turn the dial to input the number.
Next thing I know, they've told their friends that when I was a kid, I had to wind up the phone just to talk to people. Apparently, they likened the old phone to operating like our keywound clock or something. Oh, they are also aware that the old clock is an antique, are amazed it needs no batteries, and they seem to find it charming and quaint.
My grandmother had a weight-driven wall clock. I'm still wondering how to explain that one to them.

To be honest, the country was separated by Black and white. Segregation and discrimination were the norm.

.flg.
Happily much of the rest of the world did not suffer anything like as badly in that respect, and America, however slowly, is moving on. End of political statement.

I'm going to ride off on my donkey cart now.

I've seen someone with a Shetland pond and trap once. It was a kinder way to use the animal's legs than carrying someone, albeit a bit vulnerable on a busy country road.

I wish all cars could look that good.
Today they all look alike; used bars of soap, no imagination, nothing unique, nothing new or different. The 'designers' simply copy what everyone else is doing and probably get big bucks for their lack of talent.

Very sweet, Greg. What have you got planned for the interior?

Well f*ck me...
I have always known my heavy drinking and smoking would catch up to me someday, I just didn't expect it this soon and in such a weird place.

I got the biopsy results last week.
Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma
http://www.merckmanuals.com/profess...he-head-and-neck/oral-squamous-cell-carcinoma

I am a little pissed at my regular MD I saw about it first, he gave me antibiotics! That's like trying to piss out a forest fire.

Thankfully we have some of the best cancer doctors in the world here and I went to one.

I need to get a scan this week to see how far it's spread, and then I go and let them cut out what they can IN MY MOUTH, then I'll probably need Kemo, and after all that I got a 50/50 chance of making it 5 more years.

****, I turn 58 this weekend, 5 years is only 63, not even old enough to start getting Social Security.

Anyway, it's all my own fault, I have abused my body my whole life and it has finally said 'that's all I got left bud'.

I've about had all can take daily pain wise already, I don't want to prolong it so I'll be having to make literally some life decisions this month.

Dang KC I'm sorry to hear that, don't give up, don't ever give up! Just look at this as the most challenging "build" yet. Do what the doctors tell you and change what happens from now on. My thoughts are with you.

Tom I'm thinking about silver and something close to the outside color, the dash is silver along with the door trim and interior light bases on the posts. Burgundy or dark gray carpet, I haven't decided yet.

KC,
You can rest assured that all of our thoughts are with you, brother. Not a good prognosis but not unbeatable either. Keep us informed, please.

Greg,
That sounds good. Can't wait to see photos of the completed project.

Thanks Tom.
I went in for scans yesterday and got the film and print results today, about 12 pages of what looks like bad news.

I see my Doc tomorrow to explain it to me but I can read and understand a lot of it and it's not good news.

The cancer has spread, a lot.

You're right. I can read your posts quicker but I read it so fast I had to go back and read it again so I understood it. Now it takes longer because I had to read it twice.
