Velocars and other interesting vehicles.

I fell in love with this e-trike as soon as I saw it. A simple design with the battery box forming the chassis and moving parts attached at each end. The big leaf spring and the huge industrial electric motor just look great with the other steam punk bits. More pics and info (if you read Russian) at the link.

Excellent photos of magnificent three-wheeler, as most vehicles from Steampunk gang! Nothing important, but GOOGLE translation from Russian language:

"Domestic enthusiast Igor Yarovenko from Bishkek created a unique vehicle: electric tricycle Steampunk. The author says that two years collecting his creation bit by bit. Thank you for the translation, M-K. My son speaks Russian but he pretends to be too busy to read them to me. The trike looked so heavy that I didn't think it would exceed parade speed.

Pshaw, you think those kids have somewhere to be with all those Boards with rusty nails poking out of them? Heck no. those are obviously thrill seekers. Whipped up the most Dangerous (which equates to an equal amount of fun) thing they could conceive and hit the town.
 
The trike pictures are from a series taken when a considerable amount of demolition timber was moved by trikes and bikes with trailers. As for the load, well trikes make great workhorses. I've used mine to collect bags of coal, fencing materials, scrap steel, several down on their luck bicycles and on one occasion the large hardwood workbench I now have in my workshop. There is a very good reason why cargo trikes are used so much in China and all over Asia; - and yes you've guessed it, I'm very much a tricycle convert :)

Here's a picture of another Sociable. I have no idea as to its identity unfortunately.

That looks like a HD modified. The style of clothing could be French, and the circuit Montlhery. I say this with no real evidence though.

Anyway, it looks quite unstable with persons seating too near to front end where is just one wheel!

... sociable construction is wonderfully simple, but I still wonder about its stability driving into corners where is motorcycle frame (outside is just one wheel, moved qite back)?

Zoran, when my children were small I used a sidecar outfit as the family car and general haul everything vehicle. From considerable experience I can tell you that a well setup sidecar outfit is stable despite having three wheels; - though of course the art of driving a sidecar outfit is quite something all of its own. I certainly wouldn't have carried my children about in the sidecar if I considered them to be in any danger.

With a Sociable it actually would be easier to drive it as the weight of the driver and their intrepid passenger is inboard of the motorcycle frame and resting largely on the rear 'motorcycle' wheel and the 'sidecar' wheel. No one in their right mind sets up a sidecar outfit type vehicle with any degree of weight being over the nose of the sidecar because then you would very quickly learn what instability is all about ;)
