If Tom is like me or should I say like all of us we get kinda burnt out or board with a hobby, and go back to something that we have done in the past. Mine was my car I restored, it took me away from bikes most of the time. I'm getting the itch to build another bike myself, you have to have something to keep your mind occupied.
The ever present interest for me over the past 32+ years has been guitar, different sorts of motorcycling and racing have come and gone, and while I can't get at the bikes, the coats have the attention.
I want to see what he's doing now, because it absolutely will not be ordinary or dull.

I think Tom posted a while ago that he had sold the Captain America bike and he was trying to sell the other bikes and his street rod and that he was back to flying model airplanes again.
Hope he catches up with us and lets us know what he's doing.

My one thing I'll do as long as I'm able is hunting, I don't need to harvest anything I just need the down time in the quite of the woods. I enjoy watching the sun rise and all the animals and birds going about their daily routine. that never gets old to me.
Ya, a 'major expense' for a home owner.
40 years and multiple houses in phoenix and I only had to 'buy' one unit.
My roofing friend came upon a beauty of unit for dirt cheap so we put it on his lift bed and swapped the units.
It was a 2 ton overkill unit for the 1.5 ton it replaced but the house kept cold in the summer and warm in the winter.
Lennox is a quality unit, heatpump for central air?
On that same note, I will have the 'honor' of replacing my backyard fence tomorrow!! Couldn't get any assistance/money from any of the side/back neighbors. So, they'll just have to deal with the color of preservative I've picked for the outside of MY fence. The side I see is gonna have a much more pleasing tone!!!
We don't have temperatures that low here either but if it gets much below 25 a heat pump system will turn on the heat strips to keep the temp desired, if the heat strips were not installed when the system was designed the owner has to add other heat such as space heaters. This is a common problem in Florida because it rarely get below 30, even though we are just north here we get a lot more cold weather.

The emergency heat setting on the thermostat or auxiliary on some consists of wire coils mounted in front of the blower in the inside unit. If the temperature falls below 3 degrees of what the stat is set on most thermostats call for auxiliary heat. Heat strips are not that cost effective, they work well but most people go with gas or fuel oil in colder climates.
We understand. However, in AC mode, the unit may be asked to drop the temperature by 40* (110* outside to 70* inside). In heater mode, the temperature increase may need to be 80* (-10* outside to 70* inside). A 40* difference is easier to overcome than an 80* difference.......hence the need for additional heat sources. Yeah, I know there are many more variables, but this is the base reason.
We moved North last year.
The house has a thermostat controlled propane fireplace which has been a joy as a second heat source ;-}
I'ts not like it gets NY cold here in Camp Verde, it's not bad here for my first Winter here, no snow and nothing like 0 but it stays a 10+F cooler in the summer than Phoenix so that is what I'm waiting for.
