Har, lol Ilikea. Don't want to P.O. our new interstellar overlords.
Picture didn't upload well. They have a sort of translucent skin on top and a thicker opaque protective "skin" on the sides. Looks sort of like a FX, movie eye on some almost dead creature. You can just see threw the top. Really, really funky looking.
Got nuton done today. Moved the tools "inside", cleaned up the area but pretty much no nailin', hammering or cutting. No tree guy.

Router & table came today! Now can do the rabbet cuts for the door and windows. LOL, as soon as the bits come. I was out of time to pick both up so ordered online.
Bits and tree guy came this morning. The whole dang tree was black and hollow almost all the way up. Only thing keeping it up right was habit. (lol, like the guy on the bar stool we all know but never were)
Now all of a sudden I have lots of work. This is normally my slow time of year until Memorial Day. Not in any way complaining. Just kind of funny. Before I started this was spending most days sitting in the shade and making biz proposals.

You could finish hollowing out those logs and stretch some rawhide over the ends and make some really cool drums. People pay big bucks for handmade drums........
Maybe Silver Bear would like to have them. No wait, he'd probably find a way to make fuel tanks out of them. (No offense SB)

It is just a saw blade screwed to a pulley like wheel. Gonna make one. Love weird projects like that.

Hey! Make the hole saw out of coffee can! Have to call it a "Silver Bear style hole saw"
Might make a couple of clocks too. I just can't throw any thing away. Is part of why I need a shop. That and build weird things like the above......
That tree is as hollow as some promises I've heard.
Funny you should mention gas tanks. Silverbear and I have a growing pile of birch bark from splitting fire wood.

Wooden gas tanks with some sort of bladder would be hysterical on a wooden bike. Sorta a Flintstones MB.

gonnado usually gets replaced with haftado,but a lotta times you need a ipickedupa to geterdone.

good you got the tree taken care of,Dan.it could have been a disaster.
like the roof we did,same night a storm came through and a tree broke and punched a hole in the roof.it was a small hole,got it fixed in under an hour.
i had a 50 foot oak tree in my front yard,10 feet up from the stump was rotten.

Was just thinking using some of them and make port hole style windows...
With the router, gonna do a skylight. Think any way. Architectural shingles though. Would that work?

Hopping to side the end trusses tomorrow. Have lots of extra wood but not whats needed.
LOL! it is already filling up with stuff. (I said stuff)
I am running out of room to hide my mistakes too. I doubt any thing to obvious, but really want it to be a good and sturdy structure. (That does not cause pros to point and laugh, snicker)
This is cool. Ran out of sun-light so was sitting enjoying a cold one. Next to me was a level sitting on a improvised work bench made from milk crates and plywood. The bubble was dead on perfect. Put the level on the floor and same thing.
Was a nice end to the day.
