I'd say the other thing holding the Morini back is the cost. Speaking of small motorcycle engines, it's much cheaper to build with a Cub/Super Cub engine or clone. The industrial/commercial engines most of us 4-stroke guys are using may be unsophisticated, but they're cheap and they work very well!
All I hear is Cheap Cheap Cheap.
Cheap and racing don't go hand and hand unless you enjoy being in the back of the pack. ;)

Oh I know, I had a 12-second Volkswagen for a while. But you know, it was pretty cheap and I didn't fear anything but Los Gatos turbo Porsches back then.

I'd love to race my HS against a BoXer cross country. Legs are cheap and make all the difference. Well maybe not in a BoXer's case. :D

Either that was some deep stuff or it just flew over my head because I didn't understand a word of this. LOL
I'm just messing with you Aleman! :)

Lets just get rid of the 4 stroke forum. I don't like it anyway. Some of the 4 stroke owners seems to gots the reeeely big head. Reeeeely.
I like this guy reeeaallly :D True words of a loser (wannabe moderater). I think I can mount a 212cc with 2 hockey pucks and some bubblegum, toss the ace bandage idea ;)

Yeah, let's get rid of the 4-stroke forum so when no more china girls are allowed in the US due to EPA and CARB compliancy, all we'll have is electrics. I'm building my second one now.......;)

there's always gonna be 2 strokes around, scotto. maybe not the china's, but there's plenty of other motors out there, ya just gotta think outside of the tiny chinese puzzle box.

look into powered paraglider motors, and you might rethink your distaste for 2 smokers.

how about a 100cc with over 20hp, all billet aluminum, and just slightly larger than a china doll, and still way smaller than your 4 stroker?

you'll be choking on blue smoke if anyone steps up and builds it...:)

I guess ya never new that I grew up around 2-strokes and raced and rode them for years. I hated 4-strokes as a kid. I still love 2-strokes and have a couple that will smoke anything I've seen of yours so far.......I'll always love 2-strokes, just don't mess with them much anymore. Among the 2-strokes I've owned include Bultaco's, CZ, Maico, benelli, Honda's, Suzuki's, Yamaha, Zundapp, Tanaka's, McCullochs, Chung Yangs and the list goes on. I was riding 2-strokes before you were born! So zippit.

If anyone builds and races a 20 hp 2 or 4 stroke they wouldn't
be racing against scotto in the 11.999 hp top class at SMBR events.

A 20 hp race bike would be in the "UNLIMITED" class where the only
other bikes are AGK's 18 hp 4 stroke monsta bike and LFP 40 to 50 hp
eMotorcycle.

there's more than just your races, in case you haven't noticed...:)

anyone can build anything they want as an alternative to the 212, which is what this threads about. it's not about you approving it.
This thread was to show that we do have some smaller engines to chose from...and would like to see how creative people are with finding an alternate choice for power...

Baird be nice to Neil...

Now we are talking nice power size and weight ratio! This can be a awesome simple and very efficient engine mechanically speaking.:)

Aircraft engines are very expensive. A used kx65 can be had for $600-700, then you can part it out and have a nearly free engine that puts out 14 HP with a 5 speed. I wonder why nobody has done this yet. Maybe not approved to race some places, but it would be a great bike just to ride. Some people have built 212s for purposes other than racing. Who doesn't want to do wheelies down the street?

Why not just drop the CR500R 5-speed into a bicycle frame, as opposed to the KX65?

I guess people just don't get the topic here and have alot to say about it??

Yeah reeeely. Around here where I roll we don't consider it a big deal to beat a little motor, with a big motor lol. I guess you guys get your kicks differently out there.

Hey Goat...Scotto does have a very fast four stroke( he did stall the bike at the start of the race) but then again it makes a lot more power then the Morini it just a handful to ride. I rode my Boxer around the track and really enjoyed it. I had the best time on my china powered Dyno. You may not see me build anymore big motor bikes, I have had my kicks and now its time to move on...

He stalled it and could never catch up. That is a major bummer running up against a 200cc was going to be a heck of a line up. Anything can happen. Looks like EZ's 50cc class Morini two stroke was running pretty fast to be right behind the electrics and ahead of a 196cc.!! Should have been a closer race sorry to hear that Scotto:(
