SoCal Motor Bicycle Racing Sat April 7th 2012 Grange Racetrack!!

Wow! only a week until the Grange race. Let's all get hyped and show up in force. I had a great time at the first one. Meeting all the racers and checking their bikes. Should be a large turnout. I made a few changes to my Briggs bike. Nothing major. Running a smaller flywheel trying to get out of the corners a little faster. A larger front brake to dive into them a little deeper. An offset crank key to maybe get a boost on the top end. Added a tach and kill button in case my compression release cable breaks again and I won't have to shut it off by removing the plug wire. May try a different spring in my autoclutch for faster engagement. What upgrades did you guys perform since the last race? It would be interesting to hear of your changes and/or different race bikes. Also we need to give Neil all the support we can to keep our events safe and organized. Bring plenty of friends to help work the race, pit for you, or just to enjoy the activities.

I'm with you MSRfan, and will put another fire extinguisher on the prize table. Also running hub motors rather than external RC setups.

Gotta take the time to see what premier bike builders have come up with this event. I may bring 2 bikes, 1 that may scoot pretty good in the lo-power small engines class, (a la defending champ Nashmoto), and my commuter bike, which I hestitantly fixed the brakes on. These 2 e-bikes aren't so finicky and everyone's welcome to ride till the battery goes down.

Friction drives, Nuvince hub, and who knows what else. I'd love to see a weedwhacker adaptation, hope to be entralled by innovation.

What's the cheapest you gassers can put together a raceable motored bike rig? Got mine down to $800, but could've done it for $725 (my controller is top line).

Not sure if this link is working, the thread is in 'Electric Bikes; Cheapest Raceable Bikes.'

There are 4 trophies up for grabs.
Great, sounds like your back has healed up enough to race. :D

Had a couple of new sign ups today.......not too many race numbers
left under 100 so get yours now if you are getting on the track.
thanks

I'm in! Is number 48 still available? That was my number on the last race!
You are #48 my friend.
Everyone keeps their number that they had at Willow Springs and
the last Grange race on Oct 22nd 2011.
You got it for life! Will maybe not that long but if you come to at
least one race a year you get to keep it . . ....

At the track you are a number so it's kinda like jail? :D
I figure that everyone will soon get to know who uses what number.

The number list is on page one of this thread and I will get it updated
soon i promise. :)

Looking forward to the race this Saturday. Trying to get four bikes ready and sorting out the number plates. Will my board track racer gc160 be able to race with the Briggs bikes? The plan is to race all four bikes is different groups...one 66 two stroke, one gc 160 and two HF 6.5 in the big boy class. Will it work?

Looks to me like it will work, I think Neil would agree.....?

Last Oct 22nd the Briggs and the HF 6.5hp were run together.
There were only 16 bikes total in both groups.

Jeff, I am still not sure if there are enough bikes in the Mid Range class
to be run separate from the 11 hp class?

Is it you and Iceman riding?

Not enough racers have emailed me to definitely know who is racing what bikes.

Probably going to have to make some decisions on Saturday morning which
makes it hard to have a race day schedule printed up before hand.

Hey Neil,
Where can I find the schedule for the 2012 races? I want to make sure I make arrangements to make most of the races.
Thanks,
