BoXer Race Bicycle transformation!!!!!

Another question is: I currently have hydraullic disc brakes. The kit comes with two mechanical brake levers with micro switches in them. Do I have to switch over to mechanical brakes or can I unplug the levers off the junction connector?

The switched levers are for activating the regenerative braking feature ofc (& killing CC), what I've done is as I've purloined the levers for another project (using them for brake lights) I rewired the MP horn button (momentary on switch, cruise/horn control) to activate the regen instead - so the choice is up to you, you don't even have to have it if you don't want to.

TBH I prefer having the regenerative braking separate from the brakes, it's slightly more complicated then just grabbing a handful of levers (need to deactivate cruise control manually, slightly hazardous) - on the other hand I very often use the regen brake to decelerate without using the brakes at all by just tapping/holding the button, it's quiet & smooth and I couldn't tell you how much it's saved my brake pads lol

Does anyone know where these wires connect to? There's a red, yellow, blue and black on both the hub and wire harness.

Thanks Guys, I'm going to look for a 5 volt tail light and I'm guessing you guys don't use the reverse/forward wires? LoL
Well I'm off to the shop before work to have Dean start fabing up my battery box.

a few of the wires are for stuff they planned on that never happened like the speedometer wire. i didn't cut them off and just put shrink wrap around them incase they come out with added stuff to use with them

I finally had a chance to work on the bike today.
I didn't realize my battery was so large. I had to trim up my motor mounts and my radiator/coil tab in order to make my battery fi.
Dean had a chance to true my rear hub so I put my last hook worm on. Next week, I plan on designing the battery tray and making black plexiglass covers to hid the wires and that awful looking blue battery!

What da **** is that big blue box??? :D

Are you still gonna talk to us gas bikers? lol

More important question, are you racing that slow poke
ebike at the June 1st race? :)
I have special ordered some very mild June 1st weather
just for you and Dean.

I will be curious to see how you like that rim? These fat tires make this bike feel good on the over all handing to me. Looks like it will be a perfect retrofit!! Can't wait to hear about your first test run.(^)

Of course I might still talk with you gassers! Jk
I'm hoping to get the bike finished before June 1st.
I've got some business I have to take care of in California City that weekend so I'm going to stop by and watch the races or a few hours but I plan on taking my non motorized LTS to cruise around in the pits if my ebike isn't ready by then.

GH, I know I'm going to love the rim setup. My bike feels 10xs better with the shock DMB gave me. That along with the fat wheels makes a comfy ride with good handling. I've already ridden the bike around w/o the motor for over 40 miles.

i really like the way you mounted the battery. can you post some close up shots on what holds it in place. i have the same blue one in a bag and doing the leather bag for it. (da blue is but ugly lol) been thinking on a frame mount but not sure how to do it. looking good my friend

Sorry for the stoopid (stupid) questions Ken........is it going to be front wheel or rear wheel drive? Do you think it is faster than your Morini?

It's a rear wheel drive that will definitely be a lot slower than the Morini. If I knew the bike was not going to be finished before the race, I would have left the Morini on for this race because I had a cortisone shot in my knee today and I'm feeling like a young stud again!

Man oh man, sorry to hear that but great to hear your feeling great! Hope to see you at the race no matter what and looking forward to seeing your e-BoXer complete soon. Got any more cortisone? :D

Take care till then Ken.

ken, you shoulda went fwd then you coulda kept the morini in it for those ''wish i had more power'' moments. and if your feeling like a young stud... maybe the shot wasn't in the old knee! see ya at the race bro, dennis

LOL!!! Maybe that's why some of my body parts are swollen....
I have to take care of some stuff in California City that morning but Ill be there after lunch. I'll probably bring my cruiser or LTS just so I can cruise around in the pits.

I had a chance to do a little work on the bike. One thing that I noticed was the axle couldn't fit on the rear swing arm so I widened the slots and that resolved the issue. I also trimmed the motor mounts. I tried to take the least amount of material off the tabs to keep the strength of the mounts.
