BonusParts' Genesis Astra 29er Build

Beautiful bike!

I am building an onex. Thinking of dumping my 4 stroke because I need wider cranks ... and it just seems like the cranks come with bigger sprockets making hard to go up hill ... don't wont to have to toss my chain guard.

where can I get that 2 stroke engine you got?

My engine is made by a legend known as fred.

Its stuper expensive....

HOWEVER the 2 stroke kits are all over Ebay, Gasbike.net, or my recommendation : thatsdax.com

LOL. Fred C. of CR Machine. He has a store "turrettooling" on ebay.

He make high compression heads, cut on pistons, advanced and ported jugs, balanced cranks, etc.

I have his full built engine and it is a monster.

www.thatsdax.com + fred head and you'd be doing well.

Ok, ...now its coming back to me ... I have watched some of his utube vids .....

... I like his 7cc fred head build he sells with an offset for fat tires ....

maybe a fred build .... with fat tires and a springer fork .... I got to get a second job .... to pay for all ....

... I need power!

got a Fred head "stroked" GT5 on the way !!!

offset engine to handle 3 inch tires...
compression release
21 mm carb

gonna go with a KX 60 modified muffler .....

Here are some pictures of what i've been tinkering with.

Finalized the plug and play connector for the switchbox power and the kill switch.

Just waiting to respoke the rear wheel and check everything before mikuni testing begins

About to take maiden voyage 2 this weekend I'm thinking.

-waiting for bolts for sprocket adapter and fuel cap

Finally bought the final part that I hadn't gotten to yet.

Can't wait to start it up and start tuning the mikuni

Did yu plan on sticking with the 29" wheels? I would highly suggest trading the stock tires and tubes before your test flight. I had one of mine blow out on a ride (pre motor) and the tire and everything came off at about 5 mph. At 30mph god only knows what would have happened.

I got two new sets of tires (schwalbe big apples kevlar and racegaurd) since then and thorn resist tubes from summit. Haven't had a single flat since and I literally ride through goat head central.

I've run this bike over 40mph on stock tires and tubes. I have since had the rear wheel re-laced, trued, and changed to a thorn resistant tube. Will be checking and swapping the tube on the front.

No issues to report there.

I do need a press however, I need to swap a case..... yargh

Hello! Great bike! I have the same bicycle, not a mod to speak of though... Yet! I am going to be getting a 66cc kit soon. I am probably going to keep it pretty basic. I like the idea of a real tank though, the ones in the kit seem a bit cheesy. I'll enjoy your updates!

A gps reading of 47.53mph has been accomplished.

Working on resealing a small leak in my expansion chamber, adjusting the carb tuning some more, and fixing my lights.

Front headlights rattled apart mounted to the front rack, so i cleared my handlebars and made a mount for them there. Now they are individually pose able.

As far as electrical the generator has no issue supplying enough power to keep my phone charging, led spotlight, and running lights on (all as needed of course - avg draw probably 1-2A) and all seems well.

HOWEVER - my battery mounting is transmitting FAR too much vibration into the battery and I've already had to seek a replacement due to 1-2 cells breaking loose and only working intermittently. New battery is here I just need to revise and test a new more shock and vibration absorbing mount. Looking towards a padded bag or a memory foam insert for my existing bracket.

Well hopefully it will all get better and you can get things ironed out soon.

Just ride safe, I did 50.3 mph on one of mine as my best top speed so far, that was as fast as I ever care to go again on one of my bicycles, I have since toned that bike down with a new lower engine and I plan to pull the top end off and put a different piston with less mods to it when I have the time, my Kulana bike will cruise at 43-45 mph if I want and that is plenty fats for me now.

After having the front tire literally blow out on the 50 mph bike while it was just sitting there about 30 minute after the 50.3 mph run, I decided maybe that was my sign that I needed to slow it down and forget about those kinda speeds on my bikes.

I definitely am pretty pleased with my top speed, however I know it'd do more if I could get this damn carb tuned. I have to read the mikuni tuning guide again and try to reset my jetting and such come springtime. It lacks midrange punch which i had loads of with an NT - tho the top end is incomparable between the two. As of now its cold and the snow will start soon, so im just gonna stay in the warm and work on a 24" bike i roadside picked.
