Share your custom gas tank!

Hello everyone, my project for the next week is replacing my piece-of-crud, leaky stock gas tank for something more sleek and better functioning. I would love to see pictures of other custom gas tanks that people have made/mounted (particularly tanks mounted behind the seat, mounted under the top tube, or in-tube gas storage)! All designs/suggestions/ideas will be greatly appreciated, thanks!
 
I just mounted a Crf50 pit bike 1 gallon tank to mine. Its standard location tho. But it is 1 gallon and a dirtbike tank so it looks cool.
 
Mine's not exactly custom per se, it's a 6x12" Coyote-Gear spun aluminum tank with end filler, stuffed with anti-slosh foam. Holds about 1 gallon.

I mounted it using included tank straps under the seat on a trapezoidal bracket I designed, bolted through the caliper brake hole on frame.

I've been real happy with motorcycle tanks. I'm lucky in that there is a MC salvage yard not far from me and they have hundreds, if not a couple of thousand tanks to choose from.
One of them is from an early 80s vintage Yamaha MX80. It adapted easily to the bike frame. Another is an aftermarket peanut chopper/bobber tank.
If you like the motorcycle look you might consider them. Both of the tanks I mentioned are 2 gallon capacity. That's a lot of China girl miles on one fill up.

A few tanks I've made....











I've done some tanks using the top tube of the bike frame as well......anything but a peanut tank thank you!

i bought the sphere from an industrial metal supplier and siver soldered a brass bung into it. welded a nut on the bottom for the petcock, and cut and welded 4 tabs to it, so it slips into the custom gusset icut and welded to the frame.

i could weld a bracket to it to make a behind the seat tank if anyone was interested.

I forgot to ask, where did you get the threaded brass bung or did you thread it yourself?
 
it's a port from a cellular antenna and the cap that blocks it off when it's not hooked up. i used to climb towers for telecommunications and ripped it out of a decommisioned antenna.

i have a bunch of caps but no more ports, and it's some funky thread.

I've been waiting for my custom tank for over a month now. I'd love to share pictures of it but I haven't received it :(. I really hope that it wasn't a scam and I'm getting the run around. Communication with the seller has been minimal, but there has been communication. I don't want to have paypal reimburse me... I just want my in frame tank. When I get it I'll post some pics.

Here's a steel and fiberglass tank I built for the Easy Rider Chopper.
I used a large steel peanut tank and formed a fiberglass shell around it to give it the right shape. Holds 1.2 Gal.

Foam and epoxy resin is the easiest way to sculpt in my opinion.
Carve the block of foam to shape, glass it with epoxy marine resin and cloth.
I used to build fiberglass RC boat hulls using this process with great results.
If you need it hollow, simply dissolve out the foam with lacquer thinner after glassing.
Messy as hello and fairly deadly chemically to you so read the instructions.
