I like your frame layout, and even though you have the wrinkle in the upper tube, it should really cause you no structural issues especially with the middle tube in place. It’s not like you’re building a dirt bike to race in the Baja 500, our rides are slower and smoother !

Thanks and yea I’m over the small crease. And as Steve mentioned the gas tank will really hide most of it.

What do you guys recommend? 36 tooth, 40 or 44?

Depends how you’re planning to ride. The lower the sprocket count the faster you’ll go, but you will need to pedal more if going up hills. I use both , larger sprocket on my hop on go cruising bike and smaller on my retro board tracker, I have the smaller sprocket, only because I like the speed. My new board tracker build is going to run the larger sprocket as I want to do more low speed (under 25 mph) pleasure riding.

Probably should go with the 36, but thinking about the 40.

Thanks

I got a chromed steel 44t sprocket you can have, for like free.
I bought a basic BikeBerry 49cc 4stroke kit that came with it.
Never used it, went with a 31t which has served me fine. Little doggy on hills and hits WOT on the flat.
Carb went to a guy in Pennsylvania free, as he was claiming poverty. Heel, I paid the postage too.
i got an NT for replacement on the 49cc Huffy, which is in a desk drawer next to me.

Thanks for the offer Tom, but I’m not even trying to use the rag joint one time, lol. I’m going with the hub adapter/sprocket set up. I should probably just stick with a 36 as there are very few hills around here.

Rag joints are problematical.
I made a disc to keep the sprocket concentric to the axel while all nine bolts were being drawn tight.
So you a Pat have conducted a transaction. His first commercial Flyer was a 2smoke. Pick his brain.
Your coaster hub is a Shimano 110, and Pat offers the best hub adapter.
I am sure he can suggest the most effective sprocket.

Thanks again Tom, I am inclined to do business with Pat again as he was responsive and shipped fast. Gonna check out his site for adapters.

What’s the consensus, should I wait before I braze these 2 pieces of tubes and put my new forks on to ensure it doesn’t change the stance of the bike ? Sounds like a decent plan to me but I’m bicycle illiterate

If you look at it and take top bar and cut and fit it in the bottom bar, you would gain a deeper loop, plus a extension for a better look.

You can also maybe fit 26x2.35 tires in it. Print some shots and photo chop, just make sure you sleeve the frame with rosette welds and alignment jig to keep it all straight.

It has been done before in some older builds, but all takes time even looking through old builds. Something like this you have to know what engine you want and have it all planed out, and even have a quicky build to ride and resell while you are building. .............Curt
Sir, You are absolutely correct on the frame

So work is keeping me really business this week and thats a good thing.

The other night with my first tube notching experience I learned a few things. I was drilling a 1/8” pilot hole and then trying the hole saw. Broke all but 1 of the 1/4” bits I had in the garage. Then I figured out I need to go ahead and drill out the Pilot hole with the 1/4” bit before proceeding with the hole saw. Needless to say the hole saw took a beating as well. Missing a couple teeth. So pipe notching will continue when I get another hole saw lol.

In the meantime, I took my cardboard tank I made and taped it between the pipes. Obviously it’s a tad short. Anyway thinking of supporting it with copper pipe straps.

Also, while practicing some welding I created a small rectangular box. Was thinking of possibly making this a faux toolbox or oil tank. Not sure, definitely not authentic looking however.

Anyway, here’s a few pics
