I'm building a hill climber, not a street racer or commuter. There are so many brands and merchants selling motor kits now that it's crazy.

I'm looking for guidance/tips on which kit I should select on a budget .

56 to 60 tooth sprocket
Hopefully sprocket adapter
If it's bad, I will do port clean-up
Adding generic Amazon spring tensioner x2
Cheap aftermarket carb

zeda type engine best I can tell, 8mm mounting studs, has the new style jug with long open transfers and a better than stock head for more compression nd better cooling.

I hvent bought one of these engines from him yet, but I hve been buying from this guy since 2009 with good results, some people cuss this guy, but after dozens of transactions over the years, I have zero complaints personally.

I genuinely appreciate you linking me to a motor and giving me some background. I do like that it has the upgraded head and hopefully no porting needed since the description kind of insinuates the ports are sized differently (lmk if I'm wrong!)

I'll look around and try to find a whole kit with the zeda/bgf to consider.

My blue build (Diablo Azul) has a variable ratio belt drive with a 5 hp 2 cycle engine and also can fly or climb anything.
The orange Cheetah also has a variable drive but only a 2-1/2 hp two cycle engine, still it will scoot!

I still have almost all these builds and a few others. I believe that the 1927 briggs and the 30's gravely are my only 4 cycle builds.

I'd love to hear more about the 6 speed bike! Any more info on this guy? I really dig allllll of the builds you showed me. I really enjoyed the idea of the 2nd seat and handle bars on the back of the one, lol - epic! Perfect to slowly stroll around town with the wife

I was taking a gander at the bike and motor today and I think I realized that if I buy a shift kit for a new bike/set-up, i'll also have to buy a new pedal-kit, as i think the shift kit will make the pedal hit.

Well I cannot comment on the shift kit or pedal kit as I have never bought either one. I usually just fabricate what I need, however i realize this is not an option for some. All I can say is you go multi speed with a standard engine, you will not regret it. I built the 6 speed 10 yrs ago but will try to find info/link.

Here is an old link to my 6 speed build. Ignore the freewheel in pic DSCN2364.JPG you only need a standard gear.

As far as pull starts go, I've had a few of various models. Many, many complain about them but the real truth IMHO is they usually fail because the rider fails to pull in the clutch (sooner or later) when pulling. This exerts much more strain than the pull starter was designed for. Of course they usually say "What a POS"

There are no serious questions that are silly. If i can bump start, I do not use a pull start. However some may prefer a pull start. I do not want to use a pull start in in stop & go traffic. However the most important thing is to keep your engine tuned so that it starts easily with bump or pull start.

Yeah I personally dont mind bump start and would probably only pull start after its warm. Was kind of an extra feature, not a necessity, for my wife's build

Could you advise me on porting? Found a bike and new in the box kit 80cc for 100$ on Craigslist today. (Wow lol)
I am partially familiar with porting, I just am not sure how to port for good low/mid range torque vs for speed. Id like to be able to accelerate or climb easy at low end vs fast speed on my top end. Do I trim top? Make it wider? Open to suggestions, as its a controversial subject
