I got the exhaust done a few days ago. The weather is supposed to be poor for a couple of days and then when it gets better I'll trek up to the machine shop and see what can be done for the key way and getting the shoulder on the crank shaft turned down so the clutch can move over closer to the engine case.

Steve, I can hardly wait to see this tri-car of yours. Did anybody ever tell you that you're really good at building suspense? I was studying your photos with my eyes inches from the screen trying to figure out what the whole vehicle would look like.

Well if you insist. :) I really didn't think about it to be honest with you. It hasn't changed much since I put it on the front lawn and took photos in the fall but they have been buried by more photo's so it would take some hunting to find them.

Tuesday is machine shop day to see if it can be done since tomorrow is a holiday here. It's Family Day. I'll try and get out to the back work shop and put the heat on so I can paint the gas and oil tank and that should be the last of that and then it's the drive train and it's over except hopefully the cheering from the successful completion.

Your brave indeed to wade through that lot of photos. I would never have guessed that it would take me this long to get it done. Between the arthritis and having so much trouble finding anyone interested in doing the work I needed it has been slow. It took two times to get the wheels spoked correctly at the local high end bike shop and they still didn't do what I wanted done.

When I got the brake cables from the motorcycle shop I asked the owner if he could recommend a machine shop and he said a few years ago he had 5 or 6 but now they were all gone with the owners retiring and no one to take their place.

My leg is finally letting me get around reasonably well so I'll be able to get it finished if this machine shop pans out. It would have been easier also if I had just built a tri car instead of trying to make it look like a historic build. I won't make that mistake again.

They talk about a dying breed and we are literally. There are very few young people coming behind we retirees to take our place.

There is a big flap here in Canada about youth unemployment but the problem is that they have first been given a bill of goods that if they didn't go to university or college they were a failure and as is in the case of my two nieces who wanted to be teachers they can't get a job because the union requires that the schools hire retired teachers first as substitute teachers before the recent grads get hired so they gain experience.

They are hiring from the U.K. and Ireland at a fierce rate to fill the needs of the oil fields and the mines here in Canada. The government is supposed to announce when they table the budget tomorrow just what they are going to do to educate more trades men and women.
Probably more political window dressing that will burden the students with loans. We'll see.

I understand why as well. A decent pay check and no over head costs. You get payed for overtime as well.

Not to mention the customer is always happy or you can go and work for someone else.

Wow, the 1,00th post.

I have ordered all the parts that I need to finish the tri car. Wide crank shaft and the rear sprocket adapter and 62 tooth rear sprocket as well as the jack shaft sprockets. As soon as they get here I'll take them as well as the motor up to the machinist and have everything done.
