I get same thing here around Brownwood Texas, cops and all others just look or look and wave, one of my kinfolks was in town talking to an officer and he ask the officer if he had seen a fella coming through town on a bicycle that has an engine on it, both officers standing there said they had seen me and was wanting to stop me so they could look at my bike, they both commented that they would like to have one for themselves, even had a state trooper drive right up beside me while I was mobile-en down the shoulder of the main highway at 30+mph, he was grinning ear to ear and gave me a big thumbs up as he looked over my bike and then drove on off, laws in this part of Texas are very supportive of things like this as long as you ain't out there acting like an idiot and are obeying the traffic laws.

I disagree. As a Texas native and while living in Cleburne, Fort Worth, Burleson and Joshua. I've have seen nothing but hate towards bikes. Not so much from police but from traffic. From what I've personally seen, most expect you to either ride on the sidewalk or grass, in peoples' yards anything but the main road. Lot of hate from my view point. I live in Missouri now and where I live there's designated bike lanes all over town and the first thing I noticed wasn't trucks but bikes, bikes everywhere. However, I plan on coming back for a visit Christmas, weather permitting. I'll look you up and perhaps we can cruise. I live in Dallas, and have been riding for over 2 1/2 years. I've never been hassled by the police for riding my motor bicycle on the streets, and when I have time I usually ride 30 miles at a time.
If you're close enough to ride with me let me know, and we'll have fun. There's getting to more and more of us everyday.
Hi 1kbike, welcome to the forum, and welcome to the Texas blog thread. Yeah I know what you mean. Dallas is considered one of the most bicycle unfriendly city's in America. I was mainly referring to how the authority's treat motor bicycles in Texas, not drivers in general. In a lot of other states motorized bicycles are persecuted by the police, but in Texas we can still ride free.
I have people come up to me everywhere I go, and ask about my bikes. Most of the time though, when I tell them you can't buy one, and you have to make it yourself their eyes start glazing over. Then the next thing they want to know is how much I would charge to make one for them.
That's true. That's one reason why I don't want to make them for anyone except my friends. I know they'll be bugging me all the time to fix their bike for them.
