After adding the front brakes to mine, I can say with certainty that "front brakes are a lot better!"

I have a Worksman front drum brake, and I very rarely use my coaster brake. And this is on a 98cc cruiser. The trick to a drum brake is getting a lever with enough pull. My lever is off an old scooter or moped and made out of aluminum, so I was able to carefully bend it with a seatpost and its got great pull now. I can pull it softly and roll to a stop, or pull it harder and stop on a dime. And the wheel doesn't lock either. The bike is heavy enough that its stable, even when I pull the lever hard.

Beefed up my foot pegs on my no pedals anymore DIY Briggs Dirt Bike / Fish Art Motor Bike.

The MIG welder I turned the CFH flow from 17 to 27 and what a difference. I saw a nice sort of wind flame molten puddle form nice ridges as I zig zagged the feed across the parts. AR 75 CO2 25 works way better at that rate, so I used the cylinder up a bit faster.

Training wheels for when I go slow with the parade fish cover, they will keep it from tipping over. There will be no need to try to put center stand down as I would be too confined with the cover on anyway. I'll have a door to open before I bring one leg over the banana seat and plant both feed ready to exit to let the fish cool off. Hunting for krill in a 15,000 year old dry lake bed 8,000 ft above sea level is hard work!

Re: what did you do to your motor bike today?

Finally got around to finishing the work I wanted to get to over the winter. New Worksman clincher wheels and new tubes. Cleaned it up a little. Taking the maiden voyage of 2013 tonight to check everything out before I start using it as a DD for work on nice days.

Re: what did you do to your motor bike today?

This path is patrolled by bike cops every once in a while. Granted, that's not to say I can't out run them, of course. ;) Shoot, I could prolly out run 'em on my '68, not like I would. ;)

I've ridden my mtn bike at night a little bit, it's kinda weird when you're used to riding with sunglasses. lol
You can't out run the radio, though.... I stay off the nicely paved 'bike paths' around here for the most part, and usually kill the motor for the short stretches I do use. I haven't tripped over a cop for a while, but as long as I cut the throttle back and ride sanely past them they just smile and wave. Then I wait a half block or so before opening up the throttle again.

Today I'm planning some tinkering, then a ride or two. Yesterday I took the new bike out for a little 16 km/10 mile round trip to the coffee shop and back. It handled it well, I'm happy with it.

That's the truth.

I have a feeling that someone would stop me even if I just basically let it idle down the bike path.

People in my city are just jerks like that. Or I could get swarmed by folks interested in it. :S

Re: what did you do to your motor bike today?

First I filled it with gas 'cause I ran out on my way to get some and had to pedal
Then I put the chain back on after it slipped off. Thankfully I had some tools with me.

Mixed up a bit more break in mix and filled up for a cruise... 23 km/14 miles in the sunshine. The (drive) chain guard had to be tightened down part way through, but that's about it.

Re: what did you do to your motor bike today?

made a few adjustments to my double kickstand, my seatpost clamp, and put some medium strength threadlocker on my pedals after I discovered one of them was a tad loose. I then borrowed my wife's smartphone for a gps speedo and went for a quick ride to find out my top speed (30mph).

Re: what did you do to your motor bike today?

lets see, I matched the exhaust pipe intake and gasket to the 40mm exhaust port. completed some stinger/silencer/pipe to slip on and clamp to the black cat. Which was wire drill brushed to plain stainless. Painted the chain guard aluminum to match engine color. painted weird exhaust experiment aluminum as well.

Magneto and new magnet should arrive tomorrow. put back together the "roll your own " that was actually good to fire the serious ignition to the BP6HS plug. Have already installed new (10) dollar mystery box. I just hope to ride.

Re: what did you do to your motor bike today?

After sitting idle for 7 months, I'm back to riding my bike 6 miles to work. The Tanaka 47R engine started easily with 100:1 gas ratio. However, during the shakedown, it ripped out the chain, back derailleur and hanger. I had to shorten the chain to use 8th gear only and hobble to and from the bike shop for parts. After breaking the chains four times, I readjusted the derailleur and spaced out the front sprockets and reversed their mounting bolts. The chain was derailling up front, jamming on the nuts and breaking apart. With more spacing and flatter head bolts, I'm not having chain jumping/chain breaking issues any more.

Riding to work is like a 25-minute amusement ride, lol. And NOTHING! beats shifting gears!dance1

Re: what did you do to your motor bike today?

My junk-bin headlight has some very old plastic inside it, and one edge of where the bulb holder fastens into the reflective dish gave out. I pulled it apart, mixed up some JB Weld and put it back together. After that I pulled the exhaust apart, cleaned it and packed/spread/smoothed JB around where there appears to be a pinhole in the weld job. Now it has to cure for a while before I can do much else with it.

I'm thinking of pulling the head and checking that gasket as well. When I wiped everything off there was some stuff that could have been from that gasket, or could have been from the exhaust leak spatter in the area.

Re: what did you do to your motor bike today?

Blakenstein, which motor system do you have?
I've got the Bridgestone Titan 35cc and 48cc rack mount rear chain drive. My chain drive is to the HUb .
This month right now is five years for the 35cc and still running.!! Bikes my only form of transport besides my feet so I use it alot!!!
Right through the winter.

Re: what did you do to your motor bike today?

Welp...Yesterday, I took off my front derailler (dead weight), and took off my rear derailer, sized up my chain to tighten it, nope, too loose, went to shed, resurrected a better derailler, swapped parts, put it on, swapped the crappy chain for a less crappy one, screwed in the adjuster screw as far as it would go to achieve my fixed gear (20 speeds are disabled, 1 is able)

And I slimed my tires, nice to feel insured!

Annnnd Today!
Suspect a mild air leak as I have a slight fast up and down idle problem with my RT carb, so I drizzled some contact cement on the suspect areas.
