Hey Baird,

Just reading this, sorry to hear about your spill. Bruised organs and broken ribs suck. Glad you are doing better. Get well soon.

just found out i have a level 2 seperation in my Al joint. means my shoulder's seperated.

good news is i don't need surgery. bad news is physical therapy, 2 times a week for 6 weeks.

gooder news is i get a longer "vacation" from work.

best news, is a saw what the physical therapists look like. i think i'll be in good hands...:)

Ya! I'm thinking lucky dog here. Great to hear that there is no surgery and you are in "Good Hands". :) That's important.

Just one heck of a way to get off work. Hope everything heals up well.

Steve.

had surgery on thursday to reconstruct my shoulder. everything went fine as far as i can tell. not the most fun i've ever had in my life, but at least that part's over with.

the first coupla days really sucked, but the major pain is gone now, and i feel pretty good. and i've got a nice 6" incision that should leave a pretty scar.

now, it's the slow, boring recovery process. it blows not being able to do anything. besides pedaling around, i won't be touching any bikes for a loooong time.

my new goal is to find a girlfriend to wash my....

...dishes, do my laundry, and other things i can't do with my right arm. :)

if you want some interesting reading about what i just went through, this is a cool link: http://www.healio.com/orthopedics/j...dure-for-acromioclavicular-joint-dislocations

I hope that it heals quickly and completely for you!

I also wish you the best of luck with your goal. Being a one armed bandit, waiting for the other arm to come back on line, really sucks. I have been there a couple of times myself.

had a post-op check up today.

doc showed me the x rays and said my shoulder came out perfect, so i better not mess up his good work.

he used a newer procedure than the one i linked to previously, and supposedly i'll have no stiffness when it heals, should heal 100%, and if i don't do anything stupid should heal pretty quickly. ("quickly" is a relative term, still looking at months...)

they even stitch everything up from the inside so the scarring won't be so bad. i tells ya, modern medicine is an amazing thing...

turned in my keys, phone, etc at work today, so i'm officially unemployed. or, "discharged due to temporary disability with the option to re-hire upon release from medical care."

oh, and i customized my sling...

glad to hear you're healing is going so well, i ride a bit slower since your accident and i thank you for sharing the details of the accident and your medical progress, yours is a cautionary tale for us all.

...here's hoping you heal back to 100% and that it comes faster and with less pain than the doctors predict.

...good vibz comin' your way.

peace, bozo

...oh yeah, be careful man, that sling will likely get you in trouble with the liberal loons, lol, it looks like it might qualify as an 'assault sling' now.

Bairdco, so sorry to hear of your accident. Take care, relax. For bruised/broken ribs, wrap your waist with neoprene waist trimmer, or the back support that workers use when they lift stuff. Back brace, i believe.

Take care, and watch out for the insurance man.

Baird,
I hope you're not planning an airplane trip with that sling. Those TSA guys would probably wrestle you to the ground and reinjure the shoulder.

Funny you should mention that. i had to drop off my roomate at LAX yesterday, and we pulled over so i could turn it inside out before driving into the terminal... :)

ran into some cops getting lunch today and they all did a double-take when i walked in. they said it was cool, but be careful walking down the street at night.

Maybe i shoulda thought twice about it before i screened it on there.

The guy who upholsters our cars is making me a diamond-tuck pleather one with pockets for my smokes and phone. it's a "bling sling."
