This ought to generate some interest from the big time hotrod and/or motorcycle magazines. Are you ready to fill lots of orders Pat ?

The old record was 133.145 mph.
The records on the SCTA web site have not been updated, so I can't cheat and look up their speed.
I did look up for Bonneville specifically, and not El Mirage.
Faster that 133.145! How about renaming the bike the Sportsman Land Rocket?

If they broke that record, I wonder if it was with pedal assist. At some point the increased drag from crazy legs pedaling would cancel out the increased power to the rear wheel....LOL

You are dreaming.
133 mph must be a streamliner record.
There are all kind of classes.

Pat said the bike went about 76 mph on the street at sea level.
The AGK built GX 160 engine makes 17.5 hp.

The records at Bonneville are much slower than you would think,
it is hard to go fast on the salt at high elevation and it had to be
hot as ****.

and if i'm not mistaken you have to use tire's rated for the speed your going. bicycle tires are not allowed. SCTA goes by the book with a fine tooth comb. no room for compromise at all. that's what makes there record's that much sweeter. congrat's to all. next up a red hat? dennis

Does if matter if it's 2 or 4 stroke, and the power output or just cc's? I know a 125cc dirt bike engine could go faster with the right gearing. There must be many more restrictions.

I don't know for sure but I think this is the class
they were going for the record in.
Motorcycle classes are listed in order of displacement, frame type and engine type.

Record for 175cc A - G

A = Special Construction (frame)
G = Modified Engine: Gasoline

number plate reads APF. old record was 64.563mph.
EDIT: GX 160 is a push rod motor.
If they had run a GX 200 they would be in the 250cc class.

PF = Push Rod Engine: Fuel
PG = Push Rod Engine: Gasoline

I doubt if the bike went over 70 mph, depends if Pat rode it
or if he had a jockey pilot it for the record.

50 cc standard type motorcycle record is only 77? mph
50 cc streamliner is 140? mph

An example of how hard it can be to go fast at Bonneville was Matt Hotch's "Biker Build Off" TV show entry. He built a bike with a big $$$$ Vincent race engine built by a former land speed record holder. I think he only went 98mph because he was experiencing front fork handling issues.

And congratulations Sportscarpat and AGK. You guys have raised the bar again. Would love to see a video from Bonneville sometime.

That doesn't make any sense. Overhead cam engines don't typically use pushrods. The GX series are in-block cam, it's the GC/GS series that are OHC.

I now you know this, must have been a typo on your part :p
LOL Thanks, GX 160 is NOT an overhead cam, sorry for the confusion. :D

That's what happens when you are trying to do 4 things at the same time.

Afforable Go Karts is kinda embarrassing too,.......
