I've been working on the bike over the past year designing and machining my own jackshaft belt drivetrain, using the same billet motor mount from before and built up a race engine with help from Shane at AGK - affordablegokarts.com. The new swing arm suspension seat works great, but will refine the look when there is time. Squeezed 43 mph out of this setup.

Nashmoto has purchased some parts from us. I never had the opportunity to meet him. I visited his blog and saw he was machining some nice parts. However what really caught my eye was the race at Grange. Nashmoto not only won the 49cc class with ease, but he also did very well in the ultimate race against bikes that you would think could destroy a 49cc 4-stroke. This guy is doing something right and I'll be keeping an eye on his developments.

@shane: I was amazed there's a performance cam and performance carb solution for the Honda ghx50 engine. The AGK parts made a huge difference. Thanks.

@GasX: The tank has mount tabs on the bottom front and back. A threaded round of aluminum is welded to a tab then hose clamped to the frame. The tank is mounted on it and hides it all, no drilling or welding on the frame is needed. I'll post photos when I get a chance.

Alas, that didn't work out for me. But lemme tell ya: I sure did smile big when I heard how well your bike did at the race!

I think the 49cc class is going to have the best racing in the future. Guess you're the 49cc guy my bike's gotta worry about

When The Aledude posts, good sense usually follows.
I have always had a liking for the 50cc racing classes. The 50cc Gran Prix bikes were marvels when the factory teams ran them. Something about the concise clarity of restraint, working within a defined parameter that pitted the engineering and mechanics against each other but also about parity and the rider's ability on the track. Or for that matter, what Buddenbaum got from a 50 (145mph) on the salt flats. Kind of what "stock" car racing was initially about.

The upshot is, it's what legal in many states.

Here's a quick sketch of the mounts I used. A tab welded to a drilled and threaded rod, then hose clamped to the frame providing mounting points. I wrapped a piece of protective inter tube rubber around the frame first.

I agree, the 4-stoke ,49cc class is the more interesting and best racing (I'm biased of course). And thanks for following along. Looking forward to meeting/racing with you at Grange in April.

Album of "OCD" as well as older builds on my profile page. I was one of the first to shift-kit a 4G, maybe the first to do it using an internal hub.

I plan on upgrading to a tweaked GXH50 and Nuvinci eventually, but my ride is quite capable as it is in it's current form

Thanks Nashmoto. I'm with MotoMagz, I think your jackshaft design is superior over the SBP version. Love to see how you did your gear ratios, too.

Here are some shots of the mounting plates and bearing carriers. The plates need a little more design work (they're a bit overbuilt), but hope to have kits available in 2012. These will only be available for the Honda gxh50 engine. A motor mount is also in the works.

If only we had a good US built engine option.

I'm surprized to see no milling of the flywheel, I'm sure you haven't overlooked this as indicated by the holes in the large 4G pulley Very nice prototype indeed!
