I just saw the rules for front brakes.....I am a little bit confused on what are the exceptions for my bike! I am for sure not one of the faster bikes hauling around the track and my coaster brake does more than enough (did fine at the Willow Race). I just dont know if I will have the time to fab up a front brake before the race, do I still need one for my bike below? I had plans to add one but from now until race day, I doubt I will be able to get it done due to such busy schedules for the up coming weekends

Yes, your bike would be OK without a front brake so don't
sweat it buddy. :)
It is a fun event and as long as you know the capabilities of
your bike and ride safe it is OK but would be a good thing if you
could get a front brake fitted.
Your bike is kind of a death trap anyway with that raked out
front fork. :)

Only the 2 stroke Chinese kit bikes and the 50 cc 4 strokes will
be able to race on the track without a front brake and I don't
think there are very many that don't have a back brake in those
classes.

There were a couple of fast ebikes coming that did not have a
rear brake and were relying on regenerative motor braking on the
rear wheel. That is not going to be allowed.
All the bikes in the eBike, Mid range and <11 hp classes must have
front and rear brakes.

We will be sponsoring the race via prizes to top finishers.

Prizes and details TBD.

We are actually open to suggestions.

Thanks,

Paul and JIm
Thanks a lot for your support!

Sick Bike Parts very generously gave a LOT of prizes for the
last SoCal Motor Bicycle Race at Willow Springs on June 18th.

There were so many prizes from the sponsors that it was hard
to give them all away!

Only 22 days to go!

Id have to say that with my race at the last death race in Tucson, I raced my 2 stroke with only a coaster brake. I did last minute adjustments to put a front brake together but ran out of time. I dnf the first heat race because I blew out my rear hub. . Now I'm running a 203mm front disc brake, a side pull rim brake for the rear wheel and the coaster brake. It worked great at willow and stopped no problem.

Sounds like I will be seeing you guys up there! dance1 Thanks for clearing that up! For sure i have plans to throw a 203mm rotor upfront but I simply dont have the time to fab up a mount on my ridiculous raked out fork. My bike isnt that fast so not to worried about over shooting a turn at Grange or blowing my coaster anytime soon...by the looks of the track, definitely going to have a blast maneuvering through it! .trk

See Ya in the pits...yes you will. I will have 4 bikes that will race. Two of them will be 2-strokes and two will be 4-strokes.

I am sure that one of the 2-strokes will cause controversy with the motor I have built. Let’s just say it’s made by a relative of Frankenstein....and his friend Puchy

You make some very nice bikes CCC

If you are talking about the 2 stroke in the pic with the Puch head
there is no controversy.
What is the difference between putting on a Puch head or one of
Manic Mechanic's billet heads?

There is no limit on modifications in the Chinese kit 2 stroke class.
As long as you still use the original engine case it should still qualify.

Anyway you still have to finish and beat magrider and bairdco :)

There is a 2 stroke coming to the race that may have everyone
scratching their heads with if it fits within the rather loose rules.

PS: Manic Mechanic is donating his new billet Gen II heads as one
of his prizes.

I run a Suzuki FA50 head it has a similar combustion chamber as your puch, stock heads are just crappy!
see you in the pits

Jeff, Your Bike looks great, can’t wait to see it. what is the part # for that Puch head? I’ve been looking for one for my ride and don’t know which one to purchase.

And D*cDave, don’t talk too much sh*t on the stock head because I’m going to be running a stock head at the Grange and if you remember I was running an unaltered stock slant head at Willow aswell……

Actually, the cylinder, bearings, connecting rod, piston and rings, intake, and Carb are all stock manufacture.

The only thing that is not stock on my engine is a modified intake manifold from MMechanic, air filter and exhaust from SBP, Dellorto main jet, and Jaguar CDI, which these don’t really qualify because it’s not part of my engine, it’s ‘bolted or added on’ to the engine.

3 weeks till the big race, and I’m ready…………I hope(^)

hay I'm not looking to start any poo! and I'm not saying any thing against you- but the HT head is not a the best or the secant best there's no squonch band and low compression so that's not poo talk it's straight talk

We purchased a radar gun to use at Grange. We need to check with Neil, but it would be fun to record top speeds at the end of the straight. This might be a good tuning tool too for those making adjustments during practice. We don't know what jetting to run at that altitude so we will be making some changes to see what works the best. We may try a gear ratio change too.

We will also be donating some of our 4-stroke parts as we have in the past. We will be bringing spare parts too so if any of you 4-stroke guys need a part at the track feel free to check with us.

Well, all I can say is, I don’t know what “secant best is”, and “no squonch band” means or what “low compression” is but, I do know that I won 2 races with an inferior head …..no talking poo, just straight talk.

Agk, I think the altitude is the same as Willow, and I wish I had a 4 stroke, maybe next time.

I wouldn’t count on the main straight being ‘straight’, so top speeds might not be as fast as one would think. Although, I am curious about my top speed, I’m sure it’s over 20mph.

3 more weeks. Let the green flag drop and let’s race.:D

you're bike is fine and you are a good rider but do you think ever last bolt on your bike is gold plated or need be?
I don't know what your tripping on do you own stock in the Co. that makes HT heads and if I miss spelled any thing it my dyslexia
P.S. "O-POO"

Hi Shane
Actually there are going to be 2 radar guns this race.
No need to check with me as we have talked about it too
many times :) big thanks for your support.

Will be really fun to check speeds and record them on a sheet
with the riders number. Going to be part of the scoring and flag
duties along with what ever else needs to be done.

Grange track is a little higher in elevation than Willow Springs at ~3400'
Do you have jets for the standard Honda 50 cc carb and the
Huasheng carb?
Actually the standard smaller jet from the Honda 50 cc carb may
be the right size for that elevation?

Thanks a lot for sponsoring the race again with your prizes for the
4 strokes.
AffordableGoKarts.com is the go to place to make your 4 stroke win
races and run strong on the street too.
