More small but necessary stuff on my ACE build. eBay came to the rescue with an alternative kick start lever from a pit bike which doesn't foul the footboard.
The original Skyteam side stand was too long which meant the bike wouldn't sit upright. Opted for a shorter, adjustable aluminium stand but even on it's shortest setting, it was still too long. Answer was to unscrew the 3-part stand and simply hacksaw off a few centimeters. After a quick touch-up of the stand's black paint, it now works perfectly. I know a centre or rear stand would have suited this vintage style build but this set-up works for me and the ACE. I have a rear stand in storage I may end up fitting.
Hung the new 126 link chain to check chain alignment and to establish there was no need to notch the rear mudguard for clearance. To avoid the chain fouling the chain stay, I'm going to install a 16T idler gear which conveniently mounts onto the pedal shaft in the frame's bottom bracket. Looked everywhere in the UK but couldn't track down a suitable 5/8" bore idler for 420/41/40 chain so ended up ordering one from a US supplier. Presently winging its way to me. Could do with losing one link from the chain, fitting a tensioner, or both.
