More small but necessary stuff on my ACE build. eBay came to the rescue with an alternative kick start lever from a pit bike which doesn't foul the footboard.
The original Skyteam side stand was too long which meant the bike wouldn't sit upright. Opted for a shorter, adjustable aluminium stand but even on it's shortest setting, it was still too long. Answer was to unscrew the 3-part stand and simply hacksaw off a few centimeters. After a quick touch-up of the stand's black paint, it now works perfectly. I know a centre or rear stand would have suited this vintage style build but this set-up works for me and the ACE. I have a rear stand in storage I may end up fitting.
Hung the new 126 link chain to check chain alignment and to establish there was no need to notch the rear mudguard for clearance. To avoid the chain fouling the chain stay, I'm going to install a 16T idler gear which conveniently mounts onto the pedal shaft in the frame's bottom bracket. Looked everywhere in the UK but couldn't track down a suitable 5/8" bore idler for 420/41/40 chain so ended up ordering one from a US supplier. Presently winging its way to me. Could do with losing one link from the chain, fitting a tensioner, or both.

OK Pete, thought management interfered. Real joke is the time spent trying to balance UK to US. Too much cold coffee. Diesel Friday was $3.79 per gal.

Fellows even in Australia are happy to pay the price of setting Putin on his arse.
I'm going Monday to send $100 USD via JP Morgan Chase for the cause.
UK has a bank set up to fund Ukraine too. I posted it on my facebook.

Spotted for sale today on UK eBay. Listing describes this non-runner 350 Velocette engined CLYNO as being "for display purposes only". Extremely well finished bike by a top bike builder. Asking 5 quid less than UK£5K.

CLYNO's description by seller says the frame/tank/forks/saddle were bought off eBay with the view of building a running bike for a TV show that was cancelled before it was made. The original bike would have had a 125 or 250 2-stroke motor, but a 350 Velocette MAC motor was installed with the intention of making a static display bike. If it were mine I'd have every intention of getting that 350 running. Seller will listen to reasonable offers. Worth every penny if you ask me. I know I'd struggle to build the bike as it stands for anything like the asking price.

Been playing around with colour-coding the ACE's wheel rims to match the green on the bike's tank and motor cases. First up, I've used some pre-cut vinyl strips. These are made from exterior grade vinyl used for sign making. Being pre-radiused for wheel rims between 15"-18", makes application a cinch. I ordered green vinyl strips - knowing in advance I'd need to re-spray them using the same colour green paint I'm using for the ACE. Each wheel rim uses four quadrants of vinyl. Happy with the results. But I'm also going to try out the Rimblades I used on my BLUE BAMBOO e-Stretch cruiser. Ordered these in green too, but again I'll have to re-spray them the correct shade of green prior to their fitment.
Whatever method I opt to finally go with, both are a damn sight easier, quicker and cheaper than dis-assembling wheels prior to painting or powder-coating.

Sad to report Jen is in a real bad place right now. She's been refusing the 3 x daily Fortisip drinks which were all she's survived on for almost 17 months. Naturally she's extremely weak, so she's been prescribed daily home visits from her nursing team and bed rest for the last week, which inevitably means the pressure sores have really begun to take their toll. Doesn't matter how long you get to prepare yourself for this, it's heart-breaking to see.

This is heart breaking news Pete.
Stay strong for Jen and yourself. As you say, you seen it coming. But your Dear wife is suffering one of the most wretched endings one can imagine. I hope you have enough family to watch over you through this trying time.
Sweet grass smoke and prayers for you both.
Peace.
Tom
