I tend to dismiss these as they are familiar to me, but then I think there's the rest of the world beynd these keys.

The engine and hub unit is a Cyclemaster, which was a licence made version of a German Rabeneick. They were among the most successful bicycle engine attachments in Britain in the late 1940s and early 50s, and are still comparatively plentiful.
