Overheard that the first race of the 2013 season has a date change due to double booking by the track owner. I will or will not confirm due to the fact that I didn’t hear it from the promoter personally, but I have a reliable source.

Since you're talking tires, I'd like to recommend these 24x3 from Luxlow.com. They also come in 24x2.25. They have a nice round, low profile shape, and grip better than any bicycle tires I've tried. I think you'd be very pleased with them on a race track. I don't know about the smaller 2.25 size, but 24x3 are really only about 2.7" wide on my wide rims.

I like the looks of these tires. Just ordered a set of them... Would be cool to know if they are steel bead? Last what their true ISO # on the side of the tire says ?

I will know soon enough and report.. If'en anybody wants to know? I had been looking at these for a while and love the bigger tires. :)

The ridge on the edge of the tire makes me nervous for a racing tire. Get a little to aggressive in a turn and you run out of tread. I've gone down because of it once and avoided that kind of tire ever since (Kenda Flame). The Luxlow tire looks great for an around town tire.
Stop bragging. Unless you ride like Mike Hailwood you'll never get close to the edge of this tread. I'm not that shabby myself, but you can see my chicken strips from Google Earth LOL.

I know it's a race schedule thread but since you guys are talking racing parts and prob rub elbows with more racers than I do. Im looking for a billet rod or two for a flat head 3hp Briggs there aren't many out there. Sorry to jump in on your thread..back to the regularly scheduled programming.

check kart racing suppliers...

I think we could use an update because I'm also interested in what Headtrama had inquired about for the first race. BTW if anybody protests my running for the podium, I don't care, I can be an also-ran and just have fun out there. I won't have pedals and these little stage 2 Cags are a bit overrated so I think I might fit mid class pretty good if the thing doesn't surprise me once it's built. I think it would be a fair match in the top class too if it turns out to work well. I just want to run and have fun, I'll drive down and sleep in my car if I have to.

The 3 hp rods aren't in production they were usually small run batches for micro / and jr dragsters one of those things you have to know a guy who knows a guy.

Your are absolutely correct Scott - they don't have the tires, sheesh.

Yes.....they don't have Hookworms (in 24") and I seriously doubt they have any Cyclops left, but worth a check. It would be best to call them if possible cuz if ya just order them, you'll think all is well and start getting excited........3-4weeks later you'll be pissed and then realize they don't have any when they finally let you know. Call first.

Then let us know if ya got the last pair or not ;)

Only 10 days to Willow Springs 1/4 Mile Oval on Saturday September 7th 2013 CCW

Then 2 months to Grange Motor Circuit on October 19th 2013.

The Willow Springs 1/4 Mile paved oval will be a night race under
lights that ends at 11 pm.

The moon will be up after we finish but the Speedway Oval has great
built in lighting that you will see when I post some pics up.

Hey #69
I got your text about you and your friend coming to race.
I am getting lots of interest about this new to us oval racing!

Still working out a few details with Willow Springs about the
lights so will put a new race thread soon.

"Go Fast, Turn Left" is going to be very fun, tight, intense
racing.

Also there is lots of stuff to do and see at Willow Springs so
i am camping over Friday night and staying until Sunday.

The 1/4 mile paved oval is the light figure 8 on the right of the blue box in the pic below.

The Go Kart Track that we raced on June 18th 2011 is in the red box.

RACE DATE CORRECTION:
The Willow Springs 1/4 Mile paved oval race will be on July 27th 2013

The price to light the Walt James 1/4 mile track was over $1000 so way out of our price range.

So we had to move the date to Saturday July 27th 2013 at the 1/4 mile paved Speedway Oval which has lighting available for a lot less.

Sorry about the changes but now you have 7 more days or 36 days to the race.

Will post up the July 27th Willow Springs 1/4 mile paved oval race later tonight.
Thanks

It is really important that all the racers that participate at SoCal Motor
Bicycle Racing events sign up so that you have the latest information.

If replying to the newsletter Please include your RACE NUMBER if you have one.

whats the purpose of signing up for a tiny newsletter? are you going to move away from posting on this forum?
SoCal Motor Bicycle Racing will still be posting about races on both
motorized bicycle forums, on Facebook and soon on a website.

There are a lot of people that have been coming to the SoCal
Motor Bicycle Racing events that have never been on this forum
or any other forum and probably never will.

The new SMBR newsletter will effectively reach everyone that is online
and uses email from one source.

Most people check their email daily and don't check here or FB as often.

I do emphasis that all racers, supporters and spectators should sign up
for the newsletter to stay up to date.

This is the first day of starting a SMBR Newsletter so we shall see where it
evolves too, but it is being used to reduce the huge amount of time that
putting on these races has turned into.

Believe it or not, but Dave at Arrow Motorized Cycles is reaching out to a
group of older racers that want a mailed in sign up form because they are
computer illiterate. :)
