you have NO idea how many differnt models of amal carbs there are
british bikes are what pay my paycheck
Do you know which Amal carb I need to suit this engine? Do you have some to sell? If so unfortunately postage from the U.S to OZ is a killer so I'll try and source locally. It sucks sometimes living down under so far away from everyone else

I hope its a 1950 as i just bought a workshop manual for $40 delivered..... ouch, but it will be worth it. Ive also seen gasket sets on EBay for these engines so i will do an overhaul, and that will also help me understand this engine, i have a lot to learn, but thats also what i love about this hobby. And at least that way ill be able to fix it when it breaks down. I will take Rustycases advice and soak it in diesel until then so not to damage any fasteners while undoing them.
That's what I was thinking, that if it is 1950 then parts should be more readily available. Cool find, bud.

Also, as someone else posted, spend the extra time to modify drivers and wrenches to accuratly fit the intended fastner.

you guys do realize that most parts have not been made for this motor in 60 years and are NOS or used parts...... whitworth tools are still being sold so no need to wreck good tools

Hey Guys I was just watching the news and learned that during a home invasion robery in Belaire Ca. last night theives tied up the home owner and stoled his 1915 Cyclone Board Tracker, one of only six known to be in exsistance and a vintage Kawasaki the first to be sold on American soil thruogh a dealership, both valued at over $$ 1.5 milion $$ no one was hurt and the wife got out of the house and called the PoPo but as usaul they were to late getting there and the theives gotta way, so we as a motor head society need to keep our eyes and ears open (world wide) for these bikes and or their restored parts popping up for sale, this guys bikes was beautiful and my heart goes out to him!
Sorry! Harry, to inerupt your thread good deal on your purchases hope you do a Bomb Merkel with that engine (lol)

Harry, I'm sorry I spoke poorly about bicycle grade components to use for your new build...

Here's a pic of an Indian board track racer...

Worksman wheels and bicycle forks/frame would be entirely satisfactory in a tribute version of this board track racer... IMO :)

I have a magazine with an article about a cyclone owned by a guy in the states, I'd be willing to bet its that same bike and same owner...... That just makes me sick. I hope they catch these pricks. The home invasion cannot be nice on him or his wife but that just sucks that piece of history may be lost forever. I hope karma comes back 100 fold.

You should be able to not worry that your possessions will be stolen but in this day and age I've often thought if I owned that I would be keeping it secret...... Like a guy that lives reasonably close and he has a chook shed with dirt floors and this massive shed is FULL of rare Australian Muscle cars. And in the past decade Australian muscle ads have exploded. Before the GFC a Ford GTHO were fetching close to a million. And this guy would charge a small fee to allow visitors...... Things like this won't exist soon thanks to pricks like this.

Yah, it's a racer, Yank...

Not meant for off-roading or gutter-hopping... lol

It most likely won't live forever, but it will see limited use.

...but I can see ur concern...

I'm definitely custom making a frame, and either works man rims/motorcycle hubs or 21" motorcycle rims. I'll most likely make the forks, most likely double crown forks to increase strength.

I'm pretty sure the Cyclone copy with Briggs V-Twin used modified bicycle forks and worksman rims. But mine would be heavier again I am guessing

Fasteddy, seems you hit the nail on the head, a guy from Sydney Australia had this to say about my engine

Over 8,000 surplus M20 motors were sold after WW2 by the Australian Government as part of the war surplus auctions . Most were sold as stationary farm motors and there were several local manufacturers that produced kits to make them in electricity generators , Stationary power units for shearing sheds , water pumps and severl other applications . Very common at farm sales and country auctions in Australia . I know of one Shearing Shed owned by friends of ours near Armidale that still uses an M20 engine to power the shears .

Only prob I can foresee at this point, Harry, is the bsa will have enough torque to rip spokes clean out of a bicycle rim!

I've never seen a Worksman rim, and they might be awesome, but I've seen jap mc rims on dirtbikes that were too soft for the 'trail riding' we did...

way back when we preferred steel rims to aluminum, because they could be beat back into shape, with a trailside rock, where a fancy aluminum rim would crack or just break.

I'm not using bike parts, and a worksman rim with heavy gauged spokes and motorcycle hub could hardly be classed as bicycle parts, but even that I may end up using 21" motorcycle rims as postage of worksman rims to OZ may be a killer

Hey Harry click onto Google then search for project 346, baseman bikes, your engine would certainly feel at home in this bike as well as give you that vintage look, reverse the bottom frame stay and you've got a BTR
