They're building hundreds of miles of trails like this one in city's across America, and gas bikes are not allowed.

They have trails like that for gas bikes. They're called "roads."
I you are in the Weatherford Mineral Wells area, check out the Mineral Wells Trailway from Weatherford to Lake Mineral Wells. Not sure on how friendly they are to engine powered bikes, but bicyclists like it. Almost 20 miles long through the country and small towns.
I didn't say gas bikes won't always exist, but while no one noticed, electric bicycles took over the motor bicycle world.

I like the idea of electric bikes in city's like Atlanta, the belt line would be a good place to ride if the dang scooter rental group hadn't messed it up. In Atlanta they have lower the speed to 5 mph on the b line and they can't ride on the sidewalk. Dang scooters are in the streets, a Marta bus got a guy a couple of weeks ago, bad outcome.
Yeap. I didn’t believe it even when I was building mine but then I rode it, and holy $hit!! Suddenly I realized this is the end. I have almost everything to build another gasser but... why would I do that? They’re just crappy versions of mopeds or motorcycles that can’t go anywhere at all. Riding a gasser on a bike path always has you looking over your shoulder, and if you see a cop you know you can’t outrun him... Electric motorcycles are boring too. Ebikes are where it’s at... if it needs a license plate it sucks bottom line...
Really the only issue with mine is that it weighs 165lb... I hope to build an electric that weighs close to what my 212 schwinn did at around 110...
Yea try going on a school campus in broad daylight and taking a pic like this with a gas bike... not gonna happen

I can agree with that. It's difficult to use a gas motorized bike if there are no suitable low speed limit roads available. The ebike can take sidewalks and multi-use paths if you keep the speed down.
That's exactly right. The freedom to ride almost anywhere is an insurmountable advantage eBikes enjoy over gas bikes. That's probably the biggest reason I gave up on gas bikes although there's a lot of other reasons.
As long as you don’t live in Atlanta, the scooters and now e-bikes are being pushed from the side walks to the street. That’s not for me, I’ll stay out here in the country where I see a few deer and a tractor every once in a while.
Here in Dallas the rental scooters have become very popular. A lot more so than the rental eBikes, which are newer on the scene. Dallas passed an ordinance prohibiting scooters, and bicycles from riding the sidewalks in the downtown business district, but it's not strictly enforced.
A gas bike on the sidewalk would be like a turd in the punch bowl.
E-bike riders are like the vegans of the motorized bicycle world... 
Everyone has his or her own taste in bikes , cars or trucks, that’s what makes for good conversation on the forum. I like to hear different ideas and try to see things from another angle, I learn something every once in a while.
I got to admit, a lot of the early adopters were geeky weirdos, but hey, they paved the way for the rest of us gasoline barbarians to move up to the 21st century.
I’ve had both ..like both. But like the ride of the motor bike better.
I just don’t see how sneaking bye the law(s) and riding onto trails,sidewalks or bike paths is a reason to to ride a ebike over a gas bike ? I pedal on side walks or path .. but usually stay away. When a sign says No Motor Vehicles allowed that means Ebikes tooooo!
