Go back and look at the Harley i posted, i like the rack if you can figure out different mount..Maybe some rods down lower on the stays........Curt
I looked at a few like that but wow $$ ! I ordered a few 3/4” clamps for the stays and I’ll mess around and see what happens. Those old Schwinn metal child safety seats have a nice platform..hmmm,

Well the bike looks splendid...period, with or without the rack. It's a road bike with some board track style that's quite pleasing so a rack adds function while effecting style a bit as well, if you're actually going to ride on a frequent basis to shop and bags can be mounted for the carry home duties etc. I actually like the look of a rack mounted with fender on classic style bikes. No real guidelines here most of us seem to just design as we chose and I'd say that's worked out pretty well overall.

You are right about the rack MotoMags, might be useful but it don't work with that saddle. Would like some full length bike porn from starboard please (^)..
Ok with or without rack? Also I’m getting another rack from a Cabe member ..he might be a member here? But I’m going to build off this one. It’s simple lines may do it.

Very cool bike. I reviewed the Flying Merkel too. do you have any other bikes on here? I haven't been on the site for a while.
I had to finish a Lotus 7, I was building, then remodel the whole house, before restoring a 23 ft Silver Streak trailer I have. Now I'm thinking about a bike again. What is the engine on this one? supplier too if you can. Did you have to make the rear bars wider at the axle? what drive system is that? I've got to start looking around again so much new stuff. Getting excited now.

I think of the bike as a blend of both Btr. and cruiser. I’m going to make this new rack(rusty) with front stay mounts an see what I get.

Mr. Wayne motor is a Harbor Fright 6.5hp ..212cc that’s built to 12-14hp maybe. Frame was Built by Dan at Taylar Cycles to my wheels. Wheels are Worksman.

Moto our karting days showed ginormous hp increases following just those avenues to engine performance and longevity...weekly thrashings were brutal...

This bike should "hunt" well on the roadways, but may not like to play in slow city environs, just depends on how lumpy the cam and how tight the squeeze chosen. Do you have any general or specific thoughts on this? Perhaps 3/4 race or full race generalizations that might have been provided from vendors or specifics from an engine builder? Neither outcome is necessarily bad, just different.

For example my Simplex is only mildly tuned, but my builder got a bit carried away on the Harley "Peashooter" both are powered by CG125 cc pushrod engines but an enormous hp gap resulted after motor mods, so my riding style on each has to be quite different...the HD demands keeping the revs up & it's a good thing to have a 5 seed box, while the Simplex can be ridden as a single speed in third gear, dead stop to 50 mph no problems.

I'm excited about the prospect of reading your debrief of that first ride.

I know what you mean about cruising... my last bike would load up on fuel.. Reving it to cruise is not cool! I purchase pretty much mild engine up grades. Last couple bike had real Mikuni 22mm and a long intake. This time PZ 22 with a real 22mm opening ..not 26mm like the 22mm mikuni. New cam C2 , new head will ad 18cc and springs are 22lb or 18 can’t recall. Flywheel has advance timing 32 degree. This is my first motor build and I’m a rookie with motors. I talked to people and looked stuff up. We will see....

Magz the engine work looks to be something you can street without stress, personal or engine wise, I suspect you might eventually require a bit of sprocket manipulation to come up on cam at an rpm level that satisfies you and your daily all round style of riding. That said the gearing you have in place may be right on out of the box. Let's hope so, but if not it will be fun dialing it in. It's just the nature of running without a gear box, but the sweet spot is there, just have to locate it with the components you're running. Getting good advice from others, that know a specific engine, prior to starting an engine build is always a good way to start what will become a good running and dependable motor.

I'm at about a quarter mile high (without stimulants) and typically have to re jet my engines running Mikuni. 22mm/26mm. The CG 125cc Honda knockoffs that I use, one built up a fair amount & the other basically stock tune, respond quite differently with the Mikuni (both are jetted differently) & I'm planning a carb change on the modified engine. I think the PZ 22mm might give the throttle response I prefer at low rpm, without dropping two gears to find it. When the rpm's are up it runs super of course.

First engine or not I'm impressed with your work & when it runs as good as it looks you'll certainly be riding in style!
