Same with the furniture refinishing business Rick. Our Thanksgiving is in early October and then we had the Christmas rush and I could count on 3 or 4 calls from people who wanted to get their 12 piece dining room set out of the garage and use it after it sat there for 5 years. Then they would tell you everything needs gluing up as well and it's 3 weeks before the holiday to do 6 weeks of work and your rushing to get what you have in the shop already, done.

Kind of like the company who pulls the rig that quit working 2 years ago out of the weeds in the back of the lot and needs it completely rebuilt in 3 weeks. Then they scream when you tell them the cost and the fact that it's going to be two months before it's done. Reality it a tall mountain for some people to climb.

We will have photos of the tri cars by the lake this summer for sure.

Steve.

The wicker seat is now done as well as the foot rest. I'm going to put them together permanently next week and work out the spring mounts. I'll take more photos then but the whole chair exceeded what I had expected.

Mahogany, copper and wicker just can't be beaten as a combination.

The chair and footrest have been together for quite a while now before I ran out of steam to work on it. Today I got the springs out that I'd planned for another build that will never happen and lined them up to the seat for the Hiawatha and they look like a winner
Tomorrow I'll line everything up and see for sure that it's good to go and I'll weld up the mounts and make some holes to mount them.

Hey Steve,
Thanks for all of your hard work. I look forward to seeing pictures. Unfortunately I can't bring up your photobucket pictures. Can others see them? If not, send me pictures and I'll repost them using picasa, assuming picasa still works. Parts come for your tri-car? Keep the faith...

No Photobucket photos unless I pony up $399 U.S. per year like everyone else they shafted without warning. I'll get them moved over to Smug Mug soon. I figure for $60 a year they aren't going away like the free sites and a lot of them don't allow 3rd party hosting. Thanks for the offer.

I'll get photos up tomorrow now that Dan the Staff not to be confused with The Other Brother Dan, told me how to do it.

I haven't sent the clutch off yet to be modified again. Early next week is the plan.

Steve.

Hello my friend,
Sad to say that Summer Bicycle Camp For Boys Who Never Grew Up did not happen this summer. Steve's health problems suggested that a cross country drive from Vancouver all the way to northern Minnesota might not be a good idea, so with great reluctance and much disappointment we are shooting for next summer instead. As originally planned right about now Steve would be parked in my driveway in his camper, a power cord running to my old trailer at the lake and with Aaniimoosh the Wonder dog waiting for Steve to emerge with a dog cookie to start the day off right... woof! Next summer then, which will be even better than this one would have been since at day's end after making sparks with the welder we can go out on Eagles Nest Lake on a newly refurbished pontoon boat outfitted with a tall sail, rudder and keel to do a little sailing or fishing or both as the sun sets on another fine day in the north woods... it will be good.

Good report SB I miss your posts but am glad you & the Wonder dog are soldiering on. I so miss open water, living as I do on the edge Great western American desert, though you wouldn't know it this Summer. It's been really cool and wet this Spring and Summer....seem to get rain every week and had a couple of inches last night with another 7 days of wet weather expected. The result of Global warming no doubt! Sailing sounds a good treat at the end of a productive day, that's about as good as one could ask for. Next Summer is definitely something for you guys to look forward to. Rick C.

I got a start on the springs for the seat today. I clamped the springs onto the work bench and lined them up with the 5/8" rods that the seat will sit on. The large piece of cardboard is to check where the holes need to be drilled and to line up the mounting points where the seat will sit for proper balance. The measurements will be transferred to the seat from the cardboard.

Today's brew was Okanagan Springs 1516 since I was indeed working on the springs.

Looking good Steve, cardboard is our friend. When completed the tri car will occupy a good bit of the garage,no?

How many breweries have you in Canada eh? Rick C.

Hi Rick,

The tri car will take up one side of the garage for certain with not a lot of space left over and it's a large garage.

As for breweries in Canada there are 644 at the latest official count ending in 2015. There are a lot more now I'm sure. To put it into perspective, California has more people than all of Canada. The average beer consumption in Canada is 77 liters or 20.3 U.S. gallons a year.

I can only sit and look on with envy thanks to Art.

Thanks Curt.

Got waylaid the last two days making salsa with #38 of tomatoes, 25 onions and peppers, twenty five jalapeno peppers and a mound of garlic and cilantro all hand cut because the family likes it that way. Twelve hours well spent then my sister in law takes over and cooks and cans it.

This years yield was 12 quarts and 14 pints.

Sparks will be flying tomorrow when I get back to the Hiawatha seat. I'll have photos.

We use green chili peppers. Gives the salsa a nice bite but not on the magnitude of something like a scotch Bonnet pepper would. We do have hot sauce for those that want to heat it up to hot lava levels.
