Thanks Rick C. A few more pictures and a couple small details to finish up. Oil fill on the motor was plastic and could not find the right one to fit so spent the morning making one out of aluminum. Another picture of the tank which will have gray pin stripe arould the wolf and around the perimter of the side panel. Hopefully I get it back this weekend.

I registered the bike as a Moped, got the plate in less than 2 weeks....my first time doing this...this should be interesting...

The event for the bike pictcure...

You certainly achieved that look. I couldn't imagine another lever on those clean bars. Nice job on the oil cap. I think Whizzers use the same thread on their dipstick. I made a couple out of 3/4-10 bolts. You should kill 'em at the show.

Well I got the motor fired up with the help of Dennis and Gilbert, it sure sounds good. A little video to check out and hear: https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=vz7435YsYMg
It was so great getting to be there for the first start up!

Jeff's tank was still at the paint shop, so we poured some gas into the carb via a plastic water bottle and a hose. It took a while to get it to fire, because we were hand rope starting it with no recoil. We had to directly pour gas into the carburetor a couple of times, but when it finally fired, that son of a gun roared to life! The back tire was sitting on the ground and if almost jumped the bike out of its front wheel motorcycle chock when it started. The exhaust note with that hooker header trumpet was the voice of the gods of internal combustion.

All I can say is the pictures do not do Jeff's bike justice. This bike is a work of art with every surface either powder coated, chromed , or highly polished. It sits super low to the ground, and all the details are mind-blowing. Internal throttle, internal brake cable, billet shut off lever, home-made leather grips, home made handle bars, it's all custom made!

Jeff says this is his last gas-powered bike, and if is worthy of sitting in a museum, so I guess that's s good "last bike.

It was a good day,

Gilbert

Gilbert it was wonderful that you and Jeff shared the startup together. Only another experienced builder could understand the sense of accomplishment & pride that flows through the varied senses when a really great build fires & roars into life for the first time...priceless!

Pat & Curt I've owned various flat head singles in the past...Cushman, Mustang, Briggs, Tecumseh & Gravely & that sound is indeed quite unique.

Thanks guys for the kind words, it was a great day spending it with friends drinking beer, welding and watching the Ram game. The high-light was them talking me into getting the bike to run.

Like I have said before, I sure wish I would have built a flathead sooner.

Your bike gets my vote for the "Best of 2016" !
Simple yet elegant!
Gotta love that!
Can you please share the details with your jackshaft/reduction unit?

Congrats Jeff but I'm not surprised at the results; judges like low, clean, simple and elegant..throw in classic lines & a bit of innovation and you've got a show winner! As for me ...I just like it! Rick C.
