I used to have one of those. The decal at the bottom shows a chicken and says "chickenpower", I guess suggesting that what it costs to run it is "chickenfeed". It does require gasoline, but not much. Made in Wisconsin and even less powerful than a Bikebug (26cc) engine which I also had. This is definitely pedal assist.

Isn't that a sweetheart? Our own msrfan built that Whizzer inspired motorbike using moped forks and headlight, Briggs & Stratton four stroke motor.

That's another chickenpower engine in a different color. The gas tank is the same as a rubber cement can, minus the brush.American powered, presumably American fitted on a Motobecane

So many inventive minds were at work in the early days coming up with so many different ways of doing things. Pretty amazing.
Jim, I'm still thinking about your tandem seat attachment. I may very well follow the idea with one myself. I'm picturing a split collar at the seat post with one half welded to the extension reaching back to the second seat.
