I'm afraid I don't understand that bike.

But I guess it's art, as opposed to a practical machine, isn't it?

It's kinda pretty.

But I don't feel a lot of kinship with folks who can afford to build something like that.

I give everyone my word; I'm not jealous. If the guy made or inherited a bundle, then I'm happy for his good fortune.

But he and I travel in different circles.

Looks really uncomfortable to me.

As far as "the demise" of the HT. Maybe, but dependability is a matter of opinion. Installed and maintained correctly they will give you thousands of miles of trouble free riding. If you don't pay attention to the details you'll have problems. No doubt. But the same can be said for any vehicle. Electric might be in the future but even those need care and a proper install.

I freggin love that bike! However I'd never buy it. I average 3K on my HT's. I enjoy the build of a project as much as the riding. The future of motorized bicycles is in the regulation. In Malaysia no regulation and millions of gas motorized bicycles, in China; regulation and millions of electric.
In china they would much prefer gas but expensive and need special permit.

China's where the lithium batteries are made and used so they're a cheaper domestic product, since they have the largest natural reserves there to mine from the ground, and their smog is horrible so I can see why they'd start caring about air quality finally. Kinda like LA in the 1970's lol!

That bike is mad stylish but it looks like you'd have a sore back and bottom from riding it very far.

umm... I would interpret the word 'future' not in reference to engine or ergonomics but rather the fact it's bristling with surveillance cameras...

BUTT ugly and looks very uncomfortable in my opinion, but interesting just the same, and its a gas bike so thats a big plus for me, gas powered bikes and everything else like that will be with us for many more decades, internal combustion engines aint going anywhere anytime soon, electric will never be able to fill that gap unless it can make all of it own power and never be down and out for a recharge, nothing wrong with electric if thats what someone like and wants but, gas power is where it is for me and it will be around going strong way after all of us here are on the other side of this life.

sorry for the rant, its Toadmund's fault.......LOL!

Peace, Map

Hate to say it, but I think the future in motorized bikes is electric.

Dependability issues with HT gas engines will be their own demise IMO.

I think gas bikes will be around just as long as gasoline is.
If you had to go across this beautiful country on both gas and electric, I bet gas would beat the electric by about a week or so between charges vs a quick fill up.....even with several batteries unless you can rig up a 24 volt charger off the spinning wheel to an alternate battery combined with solar power so you use one and charge the other .not sure how or if that would work.

Absolutely.

If I had to ride across the country on a bicycle, I would use gas.

But since I have a motorcycle, I would use that.

But I have a car too and if I had to get to the other coast on my own, I would drive.

Now that really sucks though, 5 days of heavy driving, I think I'd do better on a plane. Cheaper too.

Whass uupppp?

Now let's discuss the real world where you have to get down the road a few miles to the grocery store or the hardware store, mail something at the post office, or get a haircut and a bite to eat.

In Texas the real world is several miles to town and work for a lot of us so dependable longer range ability is not and optional thing, its a needed thing......

I can see electric having a good short range place for those who like it, its smooth quiet and has loads of power, but way more expensive and you have to consider the charge time, so Im not at all hating on electric and would love to have one just to play around on but when I hit the road its gonna be gas power and not battery power, just to work and back for me is 32 miles and almost ten of that is getting from my home to town which starts out on 3+miles of rough dirt road before I ever see pavement.

Well map that sounds doable with an electric you know mine gets 30 miles range so by the time I got to work it would only be half down and then I could charge it up at work again and ride home and you know the boss would let me charge free cause then he could be all about how green the company was supporting alternative energy and all and be a big hero with the public not to mention the thing ain't gonna stink up the place so you can park it inside real easy.

Wouldnt be allowed where I work but for a place it was allowed that would be great.

The building I work in is more polluted than holding your nose over a 2 stroke exhaust pipe...... it would make an electric bike stink.....lol!
