Re: October 2013 Race At Grange?

I will post pics and video later, just wanted to thank Neil and his crew for another great time! What an eventful day!

There were some great battles and I think it was the Intermediate class there was a nearly full race long 3 bike battle for I believ it was 3rd place:confused: with Andy (Headtrauma), Norm (Venice Bikes) and I dont know who the other rider was. What a great battle and photo finish between Andy and Norm!

My son Dan had a mechanical failure at the June race on the pace lap of heat 1 and didnt get to race so this time was his first time racing and he actually ran in the second spot in the amateur class for a while in heat 1. He ran side by side with somebody for a while racing for 3rd. He ran in second place for a while again in the main but finished with a 5th in the 1st heat and a 4th in the main. I was so jazzed about it that I was having a hard time remembering to take pics! Im gonna have to get more speed out of his bike, he rode his butt off!

I had a bit of a struggle in heat 1 in the mid range class and broke in heat 2 to end my day, but in a practice session I had a great time battling with the Joker machine guys and Brian, those guys are way fast and it teaches me a lot.

Im sorry I dont remember his name but one of the Joker Machine guys went down hard in the Mid Range Main bringing out the red flag, I hope he has a quick recovery! He is one of the great guys out there and it reminds us even the best riders go down sometimes.

Thanks to everyone for a great race day!

And BTW that diesel bike was prolly the coolest looking bike there and it was both fast and good handling! I hear the EPA is on a manhunt for him though......lol

Thanks Neil, you did it again. Had a lot of fun racing and visiting. Neil and Scotto saved me a place under the canopy but I ended up between AGK and the Red Baron. Came upon the crash in the final race and it looked pretty bad. Hope he's okay. Weather was great. Had a decent turn out. Excellent racing with a lot of close dicing between the front runners. My bike ran good and the transmission worked flawlessly but shifted a little soon for the track . A little down on power with the altitude. Got some good ideas on gearing and exhaust mods. Hope to do better at the next event. Oh, I got smoked by Big Boy's bike again.

Re: October 2013 Race At Grange?

I had a great time, as usual. The weather was perfect, not too hot, not too windy. Really enjoyed hanging out with a super cool bunch of guys who are all just as obsessed with these kind of silly mini-motorcycles.

Had tons of fun battling it out on the track with one of the Joker machine crew, Dave Rust, Nashmoto momentarily (he passes me and I never see him again). Even had fun getting stuck behind Roland a couple of times on the diesel bike with the James Bond smoke screen. They don't call it "Old Smokey" for nothing.

Really sad to see Richard from Joker machine get injured. I went down on the same turn just before him, so I really hope I did not contribute to his spill. Speedy recovery and well wishes.

After shutting down my hot engine waiting for the main mid-range re-start, my exhaust valve was stuck open, so I could not restart the engine, causing a DNF, but my new Briggs motor felt pretty good on the track prior, so I was happy.

My sincere apologies to Jeff for laying down is super-awesome power monster. That bike had crazy torque and it was hard not to do burn outs when exiting a turn and hitting the gas. I really want to pay you for the damages, but I know you won't allow that. Maybe I will secretly send you money in the mail or something.

Thanks Neil for putting on these races. I hope they continue for as long as you want them to.

Re: October 2013 Race At Grange?

My Youtube upload speed is really slow today for whatever reason but finally heres the first clip, the Mid Range Heat Race #1. I did ok at the start but since I had a helmet cam I figured you guys would want to see some of the different bikes so I slowed down to get them on cam.......Yeah right, being the 1st heat of the day I started getting nervous and slowed down a little after a couple laps just like I did in the June race, it seems to take a race to calm myself down.

I looked at the pics on my sons camera and I will have some great pics to post here after he uploads them somewhere.

Re: October 2013 Race At Grange?

I had a great time hanging out near the stands, seeing old friends and watching almost every race. I was impressed with Headtrama's Morini clone that I'll be starting my mid class build soon since I have an air cooled laying around the shop.
Now all I have to do is find a frame.
Thanks Neil for putting on another cool race.

Re: October 2013 Race At Grange?

Jenn & I had a GREAT TIME at the race!!
It was just like it used to be, with all everyone hanging together all day & sitting around drinking beers under the pop up tent after the race.
There wasn't a ounce of attitude from any of the other racers & we met some great new people.

I raced my a$$ off in the 2-stroke intermediate race I won 4th place... (Andy Casarez beat me by just a few inches).
It was Jim Rust-1st, Kevin (from Piston Bikes)-2nd, Andy (Headtrama)-3rd & I was 4th.

I was so tired after pedaling my a$$ off in that race that I couldn't do the Mid-range race that was up next. (my Felt was way under powered anyways)

I want to thank Neil for putting these races together; they've been getting better & better every time, & I hope Richard from Joker Machine heals soon. (^)
