We missed you and Jenn at a really fun new experience for most of us.

Oval racing under the lights is a blast!

Huge thanks to Rob and Greg at Piston Bikes for all the prizes and showing
up with a lot of racers and spectators.
Rob and Greg also did a fantastic job of flagging and getting the scoring down
on the fast paced and closely finished races.

Scott from Silver State Cycles came all the way from Vegas with his friend
Brad to support the oval race with another of their really nice frame, tank
and fork kits for the hotly contested 66 cc Amateur class.

Scott is so busy keeping up with all the orders that he couldn't stay until the
finals. I did get to ride their 4 speed Lifan powered board tracker.
It starts with a push of a button, accelerates and handles great with style.
It's Scott's daily rider that he commutes 15 miles to work on.

Thanks to Jake of TheJakebike.com for providing the generator for the PA and
for some exciting racing from his team on his favorite kind of track which would
be oval.

Thanks to Dave at Arrow Motorized Cycles for bringing out a lot of new racers
to our first oval race and for putting on a helluva show on the track on one of
Jakes bikes as well as setting some very fast lap times on scotto's fast Preddie.

Great crowd of racers and spectators. You meet the nicest people at the track.

A lot of people stayed overnight and hung out on Sunday morning.
I was the last to leave on Sunday afternoon. Ending up having to get a 95 mile
tow back to LA because of car trouble so will get some pics and the results up
after I go over to the mechanic, pick up the results and camera reader out of
the wagon.

Thanks to Andy and Scott for the videos and for supporting the races, you guys
are the last ones to have been at every race. That's hard core!

Buba, great to see you back at Willow Springs having a fun time. Let's do it again
soon.

here is one pic that I got from #77 Dave who won a couple of heats and came
3rd in the 16 lap final race in the 66 cc 2 stroke Amateur Class.

Hey Neil, Can you tell the folks that Jake's will have parts as well as performance stuff. High compression heads, plugs, layback seatposts, dellortos, etc.. come see me in the pits if you need anything

Everyone is always welcome to bring any bikes, motorized bike parts and
accessories to sell and of course that includes the sponsors like you, Piston
Bikes, Venice Motor Bikes, Arrow Motorized Cycles and Silver State Cycles.

Unfortunately CR Machine is stuck on the wrong coast so Fred can't make it
to the races, but he was talking about moving out west.

Your pic is a little fuzzy taken at 8pm as the sun sets and the track lights are
coming up. Pit spaces with a great view of the action on the 1/4 mile oval.

If you went a just a little faster in the final you could have won the Amateur class prize of
yet another F.F.T. from Silver State Cycles which was this wrapped Fork, Frame and Tank!
I still can't quite believe that they sell all of that for only $499

thanks neil -- not just my rides but all the other snapshots would be fun to see
hay-- that is a buba lay back seat post-- one of about 10 different style ones i banged out

somebody has to be last it might as well be me -- no frame for last place??
i told my heat mates/competition if they do not lap me i win ---they lapped me twice!!!

being there and going as fast as i feel comfortable on this ride makes my heart race and fills my soul
being past while going as fast as i can somehow freaks me out and makes me wonder what i am even doing on the track --not wanting to be responsible for someone getting hurt including myself!!

i think there could be a few more rides in the future !!!
i certainly have assorted ingredients now to see what i can cook up
unfortunately i am so old school computer illiterate i will have to figure out how to share the chopping splicing and dicing i am in the midst of available to any others on the forum that might be interested ???
i will see what i can do

That was a lot of fun! Thanks Neil for the great time! The oval was fast! Thanks to my buddy Jake at the Jakebike for letting me ride his fast china racer and thanks Scoto for the hot laps on that "ground pounder". Now I got to have one. Scoto, maybe I can get you on the phone so I can get gearing ratio that you run. My build is already started. Thanks for the "4 stroke disease"!

oops! i'm going to take my ball and go home so no one can play. would anyone put up prizes again? who got them? did they go on e-bay? was the race that big of a flop? 28 posts after the race but none here. this does bring up the old ''is this too big for one man'' to do again. maybe so maybe not. i hope this is not the beginning of the end.

I think it would be pretty cool if the west coast had a moped/motorized bicycle/pocketbike organization that bands together. Since the economy isn't that great all parties involved would benefit from attendance numbers. I haven't been able to go to the races because of the cost, so anything that could be done to lower the bar of entry would be a good thing in my opinion.

Hi Norm

The prize ceremony went off great with scotto being the fastest bike on
the track in a class of his own.

Yep, scotto lapped everyone and put on quite a show that has inspired
Dave Rust and Jake Busey to build 200 cc 4 stroke race bikes to get into
the unlimited class at the next race on the oval on Saturday September 7th.

Scott at Silver State Cycles never ceases to surprise with his generosity by
driving all the way from Vegas to support Socal Motor Bicycle Racing with yet
another of his board track frames complete with a stainless tank and springer
fork.

The 66 cc 2 stroke Amateur class was hotly contested because of Silver State
Cycles grand prize and the 16 lap final was hard fought with #707 Gerrit winning
the race and frame.

#59 headtrama won the 66 cc Intermediate class with Sarge #44 coming in second
followed by #310 Jake Busey of TheJakeBike.com

#89 Mark Fitzgerald won the PRO class for Arrow Motorized Cycles with
#57 Kevin coming in 2nd for Piston Bikes.

Thanks to Rob and Greg for a bunch of carbs, throttles and other cool
parts for prizes and to Norm at Venice Motor Bikes for all the T Shirts.

Unfortunately I left the box with a couple of CNS carbs and the full race
results sheets on the bleachers and someone walked off with them.

Let me make a few phone calls and I can probably figure out the rest of the
results.

I haven't been able to go to the races because of the cost, so anything that could be done to lower the bar of entry would be a good thing in my opinion.

The race entry was $35 at the Willow Springs Oval night race.
The most affordable real track racing on the planet!

On the July 27th oval night race Socal Motor Bicycle Racing had a
professional EMT from Medics on the Ball, $5 million insurance policy
from Willow Springs and rented a huge diesel generator from Studio
Lighting.

M1GP a small, mini motorcycle racing organization was racing the same
weekend and they pay 3 times what we do.

Sttars the only other small motorcycle racing pays $70 for one race class
and $20 more for second and third class. That's the pre-entry price and it's
$10 more to pay on the day.

I tell you what, seeing that you can't afford $35 I will give you a free entry
at the next Socal Motor Bicycle Racing event in just 31 days back at Willow
Springs on the oval under the lights.

I have made that offer to a few racers that are down on their luck, so see you
there on Saturday September 7th 2013.

great neil sept 7 i'll be there ==maybe not running last this time around although to be passed or in the bunch is a scary proposition
dennis I hope to see you as well as 16v4 !!! free entry you better show
and maybe truckd will exhibit some of his bikes-- it is his neighborhood

anyone that does not make it is really missing out and camping out under the stars is sensational
need a ride post your needs and perhaps you will be lucky enough to have someone able to help you out !!!!

Logistics is the expensive part of getting to the races, not the entry fees. I meant this as a reply to the other thread by DMB, and somehow it got put here so disregard.

I just think it would be beneficial to have something up North.

Jake Busey and Arrow Motorized Cycles have a speed bug
and already bought 200 cc motors from Old Mini Bikes.

The Unlimited class which is bikes over 12 HP is heating up.
scotto is finally getting some competition since all the fast
bikes retired.

thanks neil, i think you should have been up front a little sooner about loosing the stats. stuff happens. were all friends thats why were out their when we can make it. i knew a little fire under your butt would get a responce one way or the other. it worked. i'm looking forward to the upcoming races like i always do. and a video of the race from the bleachers would be great to see. although nothing beats being there for sure. dennis

the problem with the night race photoigraphy is the exposure
the video to accommodate the lack of light would only produce a blurry unsatisfactory image as did most of the still shots of the bikes in action
earlier shots when the sun was still out were better but were not the race heats as such

i hear -at this moment -out my bedroom window -the crenshaw boys returning home from a 5 pm run to venice six including one guy on a tricycle like three wheeler
it is a blast to hear the bikes running around the hood usually 1,2,3 am friday and saturday wee hours of the morning
