LOL, another thing I had no knowledge of. Battery plan was keep hitting scrap places. That coulda been a bummer. Thanks TJ.

Fun fact I learned yesterday, (you guys have to watch me way closer!) dang stain is not thin-able and too thick for the sprayer. yay. So brushed and rolled today. Another fun fact I learned at great expense, took 4 gals. for first coat. LOL.. (had 5 gals. and thought it would do 2 coats as recommended)

If this keeps up, I am gonna have to get a real job.

But was an awesome day. I ignored the phone, (except tp make sure calls were just dumb stuff and not work) and just painted. Panels seemed to almost drink it. No kidding, holidays seemed to reappear.

Very early in the morning, I worked on the lawn mower. Thing has been a PITA for the last yr. Turned out it was just a solenoid. Just made my whole day! It is a Frankenstein thing made from 3 junks. So had a spare. One explitive puzzle down. 37 more to go.

Sorry to hear about the spray gun Dan, like I said mine came with six tips to spray just about any paint or stain. It also has a flexible tube you can bent to spray overhead while keeping the gun level. One like mine probably would be a lot of $ today.

It just never occurred to me that the stain could be not thinable. So my bad but is that common? LOL, just par for the course of late.

I'm excited though. Should be starting the roofing tomorrow. (doors and windows in the spring, snork)

I have had to thin water based solid color stain, wouldn't shot good without it. Had to shot it a little heavier but it worked.

well, stain is a pain.
i feel for ya,man.
i had to buy a pail of primer for the inside of my garage, aspenite really sucks it up,even on the shiney side.
sorry to burst the proverbial bubble with the batteries, but i wear many hats,or have worn many hats.in reality i dont wear hats.i collect them.
the best bang for your buck will be to find a 4D or 8D battery.
used in heavy equipment.
maybe i should see how long a 4D will last with my inverter.its 1000 watts.it runs my tv ,satellite reciever and a lamp.

Really thought about trying it. The data sheet says no (thining) but is water based.

Was bare, rough wood but took a day to do 2, 16x7 and 2, 12 footers a whole day! Well, around 11 to 6PM some thing.

Forgot to say this but the giant Snoopy thing was, the idea, gotten from a picture Tom posted way back. It is in the vid, in my signature. That is Tom's shop (hey Tom) and his Snoopy.

Had a cool thought today. Instead of siding on the peaks. enclose it with plexi-glass.(LOL, you guys thought I was gonna make another dumb joke that only I would think is funny, huh?) Would look so cool, add a ton of light but even more importantly, I wouldn't have to shlep the gawd awful heavy siding up a ladder and try to nail it on right. Was this the longest run on sentence ever typed?

Great week end! I got the trusses up Saturday and the sheathing on one side today. (Sunday) I couldn't hoist the ends with the extra weight of the siding and trim so had to dismantle then place.

This is not the color in real life! It is much closer to barn red now with some sun. Or maybe just wishful thinking.

If I seem to ramble, I really want keep a log of this whole thing.

Every one is invited over for a beer when I get a roof on it. "Doors? we don' need no stinking doors!"

If you do go with clear plastic for the sunlight, you will be much happier in the long run if you use Lexan (Polycarbonate) plastic rather than the cheaper Plexiglass.
It will be far more durable against impacts, snow weight, scratching, cracking and far less prone to yellowing over time.

I would really like to take you up on you beer offer. I wonder how long it would take me to ride my MB over to your place?

Doors? At the first H-D shop I worked at they used a Army surplus green (burlap sorta material but waaay better) tarp as a door for the storage shed. It was really heavy duty and after 12 years in the California sun it still was in excellent condition.

Doors: Dan,
Ever hear of an 'Air Curtain'? You see them at the entrance doors to super markets where the doors stay open all year long, summer and winter. They consist of a fan that blows down at the door's threshold. The better ones blow down into a return air grill on the floor and recycle the air. They keep out bugs, cold and hot air but the door is open. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/DAYTON-Compact-Air-Curtain-4HZ94

Probably more complicated and expensive than a shower curtain though. :)

Dan, they also make translucent and transparent siding/roofing. They use it here some on metal buildings for skylights. It is corrugated like tin so it is fairly rigid....

Cool thoughts, thanks GN, Ilikea and Tom.

looking around, it would be around $400 to do this. Just can't be done now so am thinking schlep the already cut siding up then cut out the blank spots in the "Christmas tree" of the end trusses and install small (er) panes. No where near as cool looking but almost the same functionality, I think.

Life. A never ending series of compromises and then you kick the bucket. LOL. this cheery moment was brought to you by fiscal concerns, the bixxon corporation and the letter "M"

Maybe it won't look as bad as I am thinking.

Tom, that is an awesome idea and am thinking of trying a window one (after you mentioned it) with the forced "Earth air conditioning" One of the main experiments of this is to explore things like that. An open window that still keeps bugs out, while cooling/warming the room using ground temp. and solar powered induction. Win/win/win.
