it's a shorter track than the grange, but there's some really fast corners. the big banked turn at the end of the straight is called "big monza" and i was almost hitting it flat out at about 40mph.
i'm sure my bike could handle it, but i kept wussing out.

i think it's faster overall than the grange. exit speeds on almost all the corners are a lot faster, and there's no real uphill sections.

i think you can gear your bike for more top speeds, but it's something you gotta feel for yourself.

scotto, i hope you can make it. otherwise i'll have to give the golden yellow shirt to someone else...:)
If it's a size L Baird......it's mine ;)

I'm not Baird, but the straight is just a hair shorter than Grange.........with a big banked turn at the end ;) Just so ya know Ken......

EDIT: oh, and my gearing and location of my carb adjustment screws can not be released at this time as I can't figure out either one of them, or If i'll be allowed to come out and play that day........we'll see :D

Thanks Scotto, I'll probably stick to my Grange gearing. Should be another great day of racing with the big boys!

i used the same gearing on my china bike at Willow, Grange, Adams, and Death Race in Arizona. The Morini I'm still working on it.

Like Baird said Adams is very flat with only 1 slow turn that is basically a U-turn.

Finally pulled it together - I'm in for this race. Looking forward to seeing everybody at the track. Planning to have the 49cc 4-stoke and 196cc bikes ready to race. There has to be some other 49cc 4-strokers out there!

Hey NashMoto (Brian),

Last June, I built to race the average 50cc, then not enough folks showed, I got bumped into the ChinaGirl class and fought it out for next to last place. So how to resolve this? I've tuned up my detuned e-bike; bumped its' power from 30 to 40Amps. Ever since Grange, when you smoothly drove around me eventually lapping me, I've wondered if I could boost my e-bike to run as fast as your little Honda.

My bike runs brisk enough, how would you put it, ummm, "Got 'er dialed in." 37mph and smooth robust acceleration.

Don't know of other 4strokes, but there should be plenty of comparable machines. Thud says he's got a 49cc China that can move and Dave(Etard) runs about like Baird.

Really look to racing with 'ya (everyone) on your beautifully built Honda 50,

Safe,

I rigged up the #219 chain on my ToyRacer last year. If I had it to do over again, I would of used the HD#25 chain. While if you search enough, you can find most of what's needed #219.

With our light electrics, the 1000s rpm adds up, one does lose not 2%, but closer to 10% power with the sturdier chains. You can find every idler, sproc, 1 way bearing, ect. . . in the #25, and it's so narrow you'll have no problem running it motor to wheel. I think bicycle chain rings can be modded to yield any size rear sprocket you'd want.

Just thought I throw this out.

Are you going to race this bike at Adam's on Sept. 15th?

I ran the #25 chain on my old bike for about 5000 miles and by then the chain and sprocket were really worn out.

Actually, I could run a regular bicycle chain if it was a 14 tooth on the front. (14-55)

Since I already bought the #219 chain and sprockets I figured it's worth a try. I can always change things later.

The RC motor (that I bought, but am not using) needs to spin really fast so the smaller #219 would be better for that.

My rear sprocket #219 is 100 teeth.

Just trying to keep my options open... dialing in a bike takes time.

-------------------------

From the science I know, friction is a function of number of teeth. When you use small sprockets (less than 12 teeth) the efficiency goes way down. The #219 chain is obviously superior in quality to the #25 that I used and I doubt there's any truth to the #219 being "too big". Also, with the motor current limiting the acceleration will be very gradual, and that means the inertia will be less difficult to move. Top speed is more important than 0-20 mph times.

Probably the main thing is long life... I want at least 10,000 miles before needing a replacement. Seems that most of the ebikes I read about last less than 1000 miles before major repairs are needed. The RC motor builds seem to last about 100 miles before throwing a bearing.

------------------

Things went well on building the front sprocket today. Yesterdays attempt failed, but this one is looking better. No one talks about the days you "attempt" something and you have to give up on it. ;)

I was so looking forward to this race... but sadly I fractured my ankle today, the fracture went all the way through and even fractured the joint.

Maybe i'll spectate if I feel well enough to come, or race with my cast on....wee.

What......did ya get seasick and trip off the fishing boat? A fractured ankle shouldn't slow ya down, you won't be pedaling much at all, just twist that throttle!

Hope ya heal muy rapido......it won't be the same without you. Take care jr. bro and ice that ankle.....

Hey man is the race still on? I'll make sure I'll race the correct heat race so I guess I dont get disqualified (if that's what happened).

I'm excited for this.

I saw some earlier comment about the hazards of bicycles doing 85mph down the straights etc.

I'm not slowing down to only 85mph on the straights for anyone. :)

My mods for the bike focused on handling and a brake upgrade to dual disks to fix the brake fade issues I was having in the last events.

I'm stoaked to rip with you guys. It's been crazy to see the lap times dropping so much with each event, I'm hoping my own laptimes will drop a couple seconds from last time from the handling improvements. Not doing any power improvements, it's got pretty decent power for such a tight track as it sits. I think I've got enough battery on board to run most of the gas bikes out of fuel before my pack goes down now as well (about 100miles of battery on board now).

I'm very pumped! :)

the race is definitely on. weather should be great, and a lot more people say they're showing up.

disqualified? what happened last time?
Cool should be a good turnout and hopefully not to hot, although Im sure the main's will be at night so shouldnt be to bad.

The unlimited bikes were combined with the mid range 4-strokes,

So in the main it was the unlimited bikes
1st was liveforphysics monster flying e-bike then
2nd was Chris moped

I dont know what class iceman was in but came in 3rd on the 4-stroke 196cc
I placed 4th on the 4-stroke 212cc
5th was scotto on the 4-stroke 212cc
6th was headtrama on a briggs.

So Liveforphysics got 1st on the e-bike unlimited
Were or what class is iceman?
Not to sure what happened but Scotto got a first place trophy and we have the same engine.

I think Im a bit confused. I dont want to make a big deal out of something that happened 3 months ago, but If theres going to be points awarded per race then this could probably effect one way or another.
