i'm gonna show up closer to 10am. i was planning on going earlier, but it doesn't seem to matter too much, as long as i'm there to set up the race.

also, i got a loaner dumb phone from work, can't get a new one till next week. i couldn't retrieve anyone's numbers from my old one, so if you've got my number and need anything, gimme a call, or text me with your name, too.

see ya tomorrow...:)

so, i thought i was all ready to race. finally got the motor tuned right, and everything was working fine. rode it probably 20 miles today with no probs, but i noticed right before i got home that it seemed a little squirrely than before. i thought it was because the cones were a little loose in the rear, and i figured i'd tighten them tomorrow when i woke up.

i was just in the garage putting the final touches on my number plate, when i looked down and noticed the left rear chainstay had a nice clean break all the way across the tube.

awesome.

so, i guess i'm gonna be up early with the welder. i'm gonna get this bike on the track, even if it kills me. and the way things are going, it just might.

seriously, it seems like all the gods in all the heavens are looking down on me and laughing...

I heard it got soggy and Dave31 broke his arm on a low side. Conditions were too slick to race and they canceled after a number of other crashes.

Anyone else have more info? Pics?

Dave? Hows the arm buddy? I hope youre at least getting to enjoy some nice painkilers right now. Busted arms arent much fun.

here's the results:

first place pusher bike: Superharry

first place electric hub motor: Sosauty

first place stock china 2 stroke: Buba

first place modified china 2 stroke: Bairdco

first place super electric: Etard

first place morini: 3 way tie, Dave31, Alex, and Magrider.

first place push broom/puddle clearer/corner worker: Randy

outstanding spectator awards: Flying Dutchman, his (and magrider's) Pops, headtrauma.

Most unexpected spectator: Neil

crash and burn award: Etard, for some very entertaining, yet painless, low-siding slides. (Dave's crash was worse, but NOT entertaining. no awards are given when someone actually gets hurt.)

and that covers everyone who showed up.

Dave, i wish you a speedy recovery. sucks that you came all the way out here to break your arm in the rain. but i'm glad you and alex made the trip, just wish it could've gone better, and we coulda had a real race.

track conditions were awful. obviously. puddles, almost constant rain, and pretty freaking cold temps, especially when your soaking wet.

in my opinion, the track itself is pretty nice. really fast, with two banked corners (Monza and Little Monza.) plenty of passing opportunities, with some challengine turns. running it when it's dry should be a blast.

if i were to compare it to the other tracks, i'd say you could gear for more flat out speed than the grange, probably about the same as tucson, and way faster than willow.

it is an older track, so it's a little rougher, not as harsh as willow, and honestly, because of the wet conditions, i couldn't tell you just how smooth (or rough) the track is, since the giant puddles coulda been hiding potholes or something.

overall, though, i liked it. i went much faster than i expected under those conditions, and except for a coupla near-crashes in the same corner, i can't wait to race it again...

...when it's dry. and warm, and with more than 6 people.

thanks go out to everyone who showed, Paul and all the mods on this forum, Adams motorsports park, my bike (for not self-destruction like i expected it to,) and Randy for mopping up the puddles and driving me.

NO thanks goes to Mother Nature. seriously, you couldn't a just waited a few days? you coulda hovered your wet blanket over the Skyhawk factory in china instead...

Yes it was rainy and pretty cold. It sucks when anybody falls and I hope Dave a speedy successful recovery, and both Alex and Dave a safe ride home. Bairdco almost or sort of was dancing with his bike and didn't let go of the handlebars while making a left turn. How he didn't fall off his bike is beyond me. It was a great get together considering the conditions. I have pictures and will post them up tomorrow.

Well I gotta say, **** yeah fellas! that is serious dedication. I must admit I am impressed. Glad Baird won his first series race! nice way to start! and sorry about the arm Dave. I was all ready to head inland but my muffler bearings were loose and the fuel tachometer needed resetting. oh, and my fish needed a walk. See ya next time! Can't wait for pictures!
