wayne z is right. One sure way to get your girl to stop doing those special things for you is to marry her. You young guys out there remember this.
It's surprising bicycles weren't in use sooner than they were. It seems the idea for a bicycle came to Giacomo Caprotti, a pupil of Leonardo da Vinci, around 1493.
And then there's that window at Stoke Poges church from around the 16th or 17th century that shows an angel riding something like a velocopede.
So, I'd say that, around mid 1800s, it was about time somebody actually built one. What took 'em so long? We coulda been motorizing these puppies for centuries by now

I got a good laugh from the worker measuring the diameter of the flywheel shaft after the flywheels were assembled. That would have been done when the shaft was machined, long before assembly.

I have a hard enough time getting mine into the kitchen.
No worries here about her leaving it if she's never in it to begin with.
