LOL I just had to send a text to #24 Ben. I dont know his forum name, Shone I think, sorry. Classic how he just jammed over to draft me. You went behind me quick, just check out the lines on the starting grid. Classic and nice. I get you back Ben LOL

Awesome thanks Neil for putting on another event. I forgot about the photographer that was included in the entry fees. 1500 pics WOW
Big thanks to the sponsor's of the event, Sick Bike Parts, AGK and The Grange for letting us make this happen.
Big thanks for the volunteers, flagmen, and the score keepers. Im sure it's not easy especially when the 4 strokers went by as we were calling out the numbers. Those things are loud but sound like music to my ears.
It was also great to see the same faces and meet new one's. I cant wait for the next event.

Thanks Neil for organizing the event. It was alot of fun and full of talented people. Talented not only in their riding skills, but to everyone actually getting there with a motorized bicycle. From smooth riders, mechanics, engineers, painters, welders, engine builders, electricians, motorcycle builders, and your average Joe that just bolts stuff on like me. In other words everyone there had an artistic vision of there creation and hopefully it turned out close to what was in there head.OMG were artist hahah!!

As for the track, it had to be the most challenging by far. Plenty of turns and not too many places to pass "cleanly". YOu can stick your nose anywhere in the turns to pass but youll be sacrificing good line and exiting speeds, which is essential to low powered racers. Not to mention running into the person your passing. One long straight which goes uphill and against the wind isnt fun for heavier riders 200lb plus like me;), but what comes up always goes down. Almost everyturn after the straight except for one was downhill which gave everyone some relief from those who were pedaling up the hill. Heavier riders and heavier bikes alike had an advantage goin downhill with more inertia..WWeeeeeee!!!!...All and all this track is what I consider an "Equalizer" track. With so many turns, it gave everyone a fighting chance to finish at the top. I dont care if your bike tops out at 67mph or 30mph, everyone has to slow down for the 180 degree turns. Id bet average speed of all the top riders of every class is goin the same speed around the tight stuff. Prime example was Magrider (2stroke) and a much faster 4 stroke switching it up in the ultimate race....

Track location like Bairdo said is very isolated and is surrounded by only dirt roads. What ever you do, dont follow mapquest or your navigation. Ask a local or one the guys that have been there for directions. My navi. lead me to two foot high railroad tracks to turn into. And my stupid navi. lady wouldnt shut the **** up. I was about to chuck it out the window>:/

Congrats to Paul D,Magrider, and the AGK guys for there wins

Thanks Flying Dutchman. That was a blast. My bike wasnt picking up at the top like I wanted so I needed any advantage I can get;). Fun lasted short for me as my home built motor mount cracked in half. I was having so much fun, I think I have a grin in all the pics Ive seen so far ;)<--- kinda like that

The race at Grange was a true blast. Had lots of fun and there was really good competition at the race. The only thing that needed improvement was that some rude organizer guy decided to combine 3 races into 1 (both 2 stroke groups and the small 4 stroke group). This caused utter chaos on the track as there was almost 30 bikes on the track at once only to save 15 minutes for the day. After several riders repeatedly told this guy that it was unsafe and not a good idea the decision was made and still moved forward with resulting in many crashes including myself. The scariest part was seeing 30 riders going into turn 1 at the same time (stupid). If only this organizer guy would have been on the track, it would have been nice to see this guy go down with the riders that he so ignorantly decided to put out there in the first place.

These races need to be more organized. The reason for having heats in the first place is to eliminate slower riders to allow the faster bikes to battle in the following races. That's how the adults do it anyway. Once the faster riders begin lapping the slower riders, they simply get in the way which is very dangerous! If the organizer wasn't so interested in making money on the race, the track had the ability to furnish transponders to everybody for $300.00 and the races would have been scored properly. If that would have been broken up the 100+ ways it would have come out to $1.33 extra to know the the track time, speed, and place.

As for the riders and spectators in the race. Thanks to everyone who came out to support motorized bicycle racing. It was a great time and nice to see all the bike designs and efforts that everyone is putting into making their bikes faster (way cool). Hopefully the next event will run as smooth as the bikes in it.

Wish I could blame something or someone, but actually my fault. I'm truly embarrassed and thankful it was safely extingushed. Twas my main 20amp hr pack, planned to run both heats with it. $950, would've lasted 5 years, jeepers!#*#*&!

Cheap Chinese 48V 10amp charger arrived dead, so had to charge with tiny 24V 2amp charger. That meant reconfiguring the wiring harness. Had a panicky preceding 24hr; mini-genarator wouldn't crank that monring, was looking for the riders' meeting. Then you went by bullhorning, "Come on e-bikes, there's gotta be more than 1 of 'ya." What?? I needed 6min to safely reconfigure the lipo to provide 48V to my motor and a few minutes to put safety gear on. Since it was safely extinguished, and in retrospect, I can only laugh at myself.

On the next to last reconnect there was a good pop. Oh crap, tried to pull the connectors apart but they had welded and it was just a matter of 5 seconds to smoke, then another 5seconds to puff time.

My apologies to everyone. I'll forfeit my race rather than go in half cocked the way I did in the future. Besides the pack, later it was a $700 Astro motor that I smoked not having time to properly current limit it.

If the 2 guys that extinguished it will PM me their addresses, I'll ship new fire extinguishers to 'ya! Big THANKS to 'em!

Thanks for putting on the event MBR,

Will:-||

There were only 26 bikes in the second 2 stroke class heat which
included the three 4 strokes.
At Willow Springs the 2 stroke class heat had about 23, maybe 24 so it
wasn't too many more.
30 bikes is the maximum I would put on the track.

Putting the 3 heats and 3 finals together saved 30 minutes
for the heats and 50 minutes for the 3 finals making a total much more
than 1 hour and 20 minutes saved when you add in the time between them.
We really needed extra time as the schedule was too tight.

Also it was a lot more fun for the 4 stroke guys.

Where did you get your 15 minute figure from?
Sorry that you crashed, Are you and your bike OK?

These races need to be more organized. The reason for having heats in the first place is to eliminate slower riders to allow the faster bikes to battle in the following races. That's how the adults do it anyway. Once the faster riders begin lapping the slower riders, they simply get in the way which is very dangerous! Grange Motor Circuit has no transponders to rent for $300.
I talked to Jim at Grange about using transponders and it was not feasible.

$300? $100 x $1.33 = $133 and there weren't 100 registered riders with numbers.

The timing circuits are in the Grange track and that is it.

Your $300 for the transponders is as far off as your 15 minutes time savings
estimate.
You need transponders and the laptops with the software as well as the
owners of those laptops/software to run them.

The whole transponder system costs at least $20,000. with enough
transponders for all the bikes.

The cost is closer to $1000 to rent and any damage to a transponder is
$400.

Please email me where I can get all the the above for only $300 and
I will do it for the next race.
or you can pay for it yourself? find a
sponsor?

I made no money from the race and the turn out was lower than Willow
Springs and it cost more at Grange with the Pro Photography, etc

This may be the last race I get involved with. Way too much time, stress and
aggravation then I have to deal with first time posters like you and worse.

By the way did YOU help out at the race with any of the flagging, scoring, etc
Think that you could do a better job of it? Your time and dollar estimates are
not even close to reality.
