Really, it all comes down to just having fun! I wouldn't be worried about the faster guys, just make sure you stay out of their way and all will be fine! ;) I came last in the first heat, 3rd to last in the second heat, and placed 18th out of 24 in the final! Its really great to see those that are really pushing the performance levels on these little motors! Was running the stock 44t gear so my top end sucked going down the straights, loved the torque though all around the turns! The track was awesome! Loved how fast it was and swooping down the mini hills! Thanks again to Neil for setting up another great race! If it wasn't for him, none of this would be going down! Cant wait for the next one! dnut
You are right, I agree, it's all about the fun. I'm usually last, but I get a good view of the race, and get to see who's first when they lap me.

Thank you Neil for the great event, it’s nice to have someone put in so much effort for an event like this. You are the Man...

The old friends and new one's I met at this event will be remembered, nice to have Andy and his bike cam going and to pit with Magrider and his family (Good People)

Nice to see Scotto and his FAST SLANT bike, thanks for the beer bro.

Bairdco...nice seeing you... at the back of the pack...you disappointed me bro...Don’t let that happen again...you have the skills...show them...

Ducedave you are a cool dude with some old school racing skills, nice racing with you. Nice pictures...see me on your butt in that photo...the Old Guys class rules...

Thanks AGK (Shane) for the last min. fuel pump, with-out it the bike would not have run. You run a great business with great support. Thanks for the prizes...now I will get to know what RPM my valves were floating...lol

Is there a site to any of the many photographers that were there so we can peep out some photos?
The pro photographer Craig Nelson and I are working on getting well over
a 1000 photos uploaded that he took at the Grange race.

I have about 400 right now that I have been putting in this thread.

There you are overtaking magrider on your death machine LOL

back of the pack? c'mon, jeff. i got 4th...

in the heats i just coasted through. i got there late and got 2 practice laps. during the 2 hour lunch, i never left the track. went through 2 tanks of fuel. got the lines down, and in the final, i held third for half the race, then took a turn too wide and fast, lost a few seconds offroading, then got overtaken in the final corner, last lap and missed third by 5'.

i'll admit, i coulda been a bit more prepared, showing up late and still feeling the affects from the night before wasn't exactly the way to ready myself for a big race, then forgetting my other sprockets to gear for the track...

next time, it's a steak dinner, an early bedtime, and a full toolbox for me...:)

overall, i'm happy with the outcome. had a ton of fun, left nothing but rubber on the track, despite the gearing my bike worked perfect, and got to stand around in the sun and heat wearing leather pants all day...

mixing it up with johnny, who slid out when i snaked the line to pass him, and battling it out with dave? greg? (sorry bro, i suck at names) for third/fourth was great.

and while everyone else was packing up, downing some beverages, i was still on the track, riding it backwards. downhill with the wind at my back on that long straight was awesome.

oh, and jeff, you better watch out for your kid. he's fearless, smooth, and at 15, is already better than us old guys out there.

gotta thank neil for burying the hatchet and letting me race, cris from motorbike magazine for the ride, and everyone else who i talked to, and the guys who thanked me for the advice and info i paste all over this forum. it means a lot to me to know i've helped you guys out.

one other thing... no one mentioned the 5 miles of dirt road leading up to the track. if you plan on going to the grange, leave your lowered cars and trucks at home...:)

Yeah Thanks Neil for putting these races on , I am sure it is a ton of work for you . I had a blast battling it out with ducedave and Scotto on his 49cc bike and Jeffs son on the two stroke . Looking forward to the next one thanks again, good fun with good people can't beat that .....

I never made it to Grange until the Friday before the race
so there were a few surprises but I love the track!
Much better than Willow Springs.

The road isn't that bad, just turns into a gravel road for the
last few miles.

What would a SoCal race be without bairdco there? LOL
Thanks for helping out with trying to find an EMT, but you
gotta admit that the EMT Jenny who did the start finish
flagging would make getting patched up from a crash a good thing. LOL

Rodney #86 from the Piston Bike crew was 3rd. All you guys that
arrived on Sat missed the Friday night party..........

haha! So true! I really do not know how my brothers rice rocket made it past that road! My Subaru Outback though can eat roads like that all day!
