I don't know who the guy was, but he punched a hole through his piston :( I don't even get how that happens

Re: Connecticut MB Rally and Ride

He was running lean but it still doesn't make sense, but maybe it's that the lean conditions heated up the piston so much that the pressure of combustion blew a hole through super hot and cheap cast piston because the integrity was compromised. I bet if he were running richer this wouldn't have happened. The CNS carbs are notorious lean monsters with those stupid EPA settings... Poor guy :(

Re: Connecticut MB Rally and Ride

That is how my brother blew a whole in my Honda's piston running lean for a long ride. It never ran again, but I learned all about motorcycle engines in my attempt to fix it. I bet one of these HT motors would be an easy fix, my 350 was two cylinders and I think I never had the timing right.

Re: Connecticut MB Rally and Ride

I'm the guy that broke down. Funny thing is that it was running real good just before it went into melt down!

In any case, I had a great time! It was good to meet everyone (George of the Jungle, Andre the Giant, Beam me up Scotty to name a few) (it's a memory thing) and a total blast to be part of the group ride. I would never have ridden as far or as fast or on the the type of roads that we rode on by myself.

As far as the motor goes, I'll be ordering a new one from BGF and I'll use the old one as a parts motor. I'll probably also order an NT carb to replace my version 2 Speed Carb. Sound like a plan?

That sounds like a great plan! The BGF and NT are both great ideas. I hope you get back on the road soon, I don't know if you'll make it to my rally or not but I'd love to see you there :)

Chuck i just checked every site I know of. It looks like everyone is sold out or restocking. If you plan on going next week. I can bring my race engine to swap in for the day . I can swap it in the lot in 10 min for you.

Re: Connecticut MB Rally and Ride

It was good that there were no breakdowns and for the most part the long rides were at max throttle.
Glad Trax brought the cooler it was a life saver. He didn't even spill it(must have praticed at home LOL).

Ya those cooler drills paid off, glad you enjoyed the drinks it was a hot but beautiful day for a ride.

I think the z-80 he has is the same thing, but his price is high now. I hate that he uses the same engine pics in every add even thoe they are different.
