I don't understand why you would want to fire both cylinders at the same time that means the the pistons are at the top at the same time.
One of the advantages of the twin is that you can put the cranks any position you want, thus find the spot that eliminates the vibration. The Yamaha twin puts one up and one down that way you get a fire every half rotation. If you put the cranks at 90 degree that would put it in the same balance as a Ducati. Just a thought.
You have to run two carbs on a two stroke, the pulses foil the intake if you try to run only one. Have fun, Dave
the motorcycle engines your talking about ar single crank twins and i think a single carb with a reed set up would almost erase pulse timing like my banshee with single carb conversion just got me thinking about this a bit just some thaughts off the top of my head .bf.

ive tryed the reed cage trick and it causes to much cylindar volume. it dose fix the singule carb isue butt the extra volume kills the bottem end. i to am a twin cylindar fan allso. i useto roadrace a yahama tz 250 and have had several r5s and rds i curently have a rd350 with all the road race goodies on it.

.....I know this is off topic but, I drag race an RD350 and an RD250 with TZ top ends and transmission parts. Thought you would like that....!!! Back on topic though, I would also love to buy one of these twin cases when you finish up the design.(^) Excelent work!

dance1Just found this thread and it is like a dream come true! You are doing two 49cc motors right? Why not two of the bigger motors? I would probably have to license it anyway. My Stilletto chopper NEEDS this motor! Just when I think I have spent enough money on my bikes you have to come up with this!

Skip - There are quite a few engines that run two cranks. the advantages we have discussed. One way, some of the B&S engines have a weight spinning driven off the crank like another crankshaft to rid vibration. Your way you get the advantage of having a piston attached to it. Keep us posted. Have fun, Dave

hello again;

Found time once again to spend some time here.
Seems alot of attention is going on about the "pirates" project.
Go for it! We need more of differing options for our projects.
Bike frames and engine performance options.

My main concern is there has not an update on the "V" twin project as this being my singular interest at this time.

As more "performance" pieces become availiable,I can see using pirates jugs, cylinder heads, pistons etc. and merging two into one expansion chamber for a real kick in the pants set up.

Hope I am not getting too far above the curve.

Would like to coin a term for those heads..bathtub...Soap dish was mentioned some time ago. PPH, Pirates performance heads? Do these violate the "man card"? Any comments?

Seriously Acme guys..Any updates? When availiable? Cost?
Bobby
