Maybe the timing is off firing at the wrong time?

That sound plausible. if it fired on the up stroke that could blow stuff up!
How the heck would I check that?

Also, How would I know if the piston was backwards?

I finally got around to taking a pic of the problem. if you look where the carb attaches, you will see my set screw. You can also see where it broke.

Hey everyone. Brand new rider from Fort Worth here. I live in the Historic Southside, about 3 miles as the crow flies from Downtown. Recently purchased an MB from a fellow member here on the forums. I'm also, as y'all can see, still quite new to the site and forums.

I've had the bike for a little over a week now. I've become addicted to riding this thing and have been using it for my daily errands and such. Beats the bus, and even cheaper to boot. :D

I've ridden it all around town so far, mainly in the East, West, and South sides, as well as Downtown, and have had a pleasant experience. Most cops either ignore it, look at it curiously, or just glance for a bit. Having passed over a dozen cops so far, most with my motor running, I can say with a fair amount of confidence that the Fort Worth police aren't jerky about MBs. And believe me, this is saying something, considering I'm a 19 year old guy who can sometimes look a bit thuggish if I'm not careful about picking my outfits. :p

I did get pulled over once, but the cop only did so to ask me through his car window if I had seen a guy that stole a weed-eater from a shed in the neighborhood I was passing through.

It's definitely a head-turner. I've had several people roll down their windows while we were both stopped at red lights to inquire about MBs, and even a motorcyclist that was stopped in front of me on West 7th Street that turned back at me to ask a few questions. I've also had many people stop to take a better look at my bike, and even have seen some exclaim in wonder.

My favorite so far was this gangster-type who saw me stopped at a red light at Magnolia and College. He turned to his friends and said loudly, "Dayum! He has a MOTOR on his $^&(!" I had to resist the urge to burst out laughing; his amazed tone of voice was priceless.

I've gotten to the point where I ride every day now. Main thing I hope for now, is to connect with (an)other rider(s) in Fort Worth here so I don't have to always ride alone.

I really appreciate my motorbike when passing bus stops. I'm moving toward my destination while those people wait and wait for their bus.

The bus in Longview Tx runs once an hour on all routes and stops at 6 PM and nothing on Sunday...near impossible to use for anything but retirees with nothing better to do. I they have 6 routes whether ya need em or not LOL http://www.longviewtransit.com/routes.php

You see a lot of folks riding a bicycle here I know of 1 dude that rode a MB he said he wasn't hassled.

Welcome to the forum SergeyTempest. Thank you for the great report about riding Fort Worth. I don't know why, but I feel someday we'll be getting together to ride. You're only about 30 miles away from me. I'm here in Farmers Branch. There's getting to be more and more of us everyday.

When you can, post a pic of your bike here in this thread so we can all admire your bike.

I have a weird perversion. Living in Dallas, I feel waiting for a bus is the stupidest way to waste time there is. Going anywhere on the bus takes forever, and it's not cheap. Riding the bus from Farmers Branch to downtown Dallas takes almost 2 hours. Then when you get off the bus, you have to walk miles to get where you want to be. Whenever I ride by a dart station, I always make it a point to do a drive by of all the people sitting there waiting. If I have time I usually circle around and go by twice. I know there has to be some people that see me and think to themselves, I need me one of those.

For the money the government is wasting on the stupid bus lines, they could buy everyone in Dallas a MB, and save billions of $$$ doing it.

Hate to hijack a thread but look how much they spent on the levies to save a bunch of run down shacks in South Dallas and now other areas flood regularly LOL! Oh and BTW they didn't totally waste the money on the bus system I made a living driving one of them for 11 years LOL!

Let me think about it a minute. What would a government MB be like?

Probably would top out about 10 mph, weigh 400 lbs, have a range of 2 miles, and cost $12,000.

I guess not lol.

I was thinking more along the lines of it wouldn't even run, on purpose, because that would not be safe for every idiot that may want to use it.

I work in the construction industry, and the codes I have to follow are designed to save people from themselves and the government from lawsuits.

So I got to ride today after a plauge of problems with motors and rain \m/ so nice to be able to ride again. Took a trip through the trail by my house and got stoopid muddy cuz of the rain and had no issues \m/ then after the beating I gave it I rode it down every street in my neighborhood and had a great time. Had a few people stop me to ask about the bike and I was happy to try and convince them to buildd their own. Would be killer to have more people to ride with here. Haven't seen another bike anywhere except craigslist. No issues with police so far either. Had one pass me today while I was cruising the neighborhood. He didn't even look my way\m/ >.< \m/

Yep, seems like all the Texas riders report about the same experience. One thing I notice we all have in common is, we all wish we had someone to ride with.

I've actually had the pleasure of riding with 4 MBs at the same time on our first Dallas ride. That was fun, but more bikes would be more fun. I also occasionally get to ride with Javier, and Bruce once in a while, but so far not at the same time. Happycheapskate rides with us too but he's on the other side of town most of the time. Also my friend Ruben lives in Oak Cliff.

Which reminds me, hey Ruben lets ride down to Bishop street. I think they're having a bicycle thing next week. We can terrorize them a little maybe just for fun lol.

It's a long shot, but I hope that group rides in Fort Worth aren't too far off. :p

If I know ahead of time, I can bring my bike in my van.

Maybe I could try and set a riding event up over here, in that case. :D Been itching to do a non-solo ride for a week now, heh.

Motorized bicycles are rare over here, too. I've only seen one other gas bike in the last five years or so.
