Hey everyone. Brand new rider from Fort Worth here. I live in the Historic Southside, about 3 miles as the crow flies from Downtown. Recently purchased an MB from a fellow member here on the forums. I'm also, as y'all can see, still quite new to the site and forums.
I've had the bike for a little over a week now. I've become addicted to riding this thing and have been using it for my daily errands and such. Beats the bus, and even cheaper to boot.
I've ridden it all around town so far, mainly in the East, West, and South sides, as well as Downtown, and have had a pleasant experience. Most cops either ignore it, look at it curiously, or just glance for a bit. Having passed over a dozen cops so far, most with my motor running, I can say with a fair amount of confidence that the Fort Worth police aren't jerky about MBs. And believe me, this is saying something, considering I'm a 19 year old guy who can sometimes look a bit thuggish if I'm not careful about picking my outfits.
I did get pulled over once, but the cop only did so to ask me through his car window if I had seen a guy that stole a weed-eater from a shed in the neighborhood I was passing through.
It's definitely a head-turner. I've had several people roll down their windows while we were both stopped at red lights to inquire about MBs, and even a motorcyclist that was stopped in front of me on West 7th Street that turned back at me to ask a few questions. I've also had many people stop to take a better look at my bike, and even have seen some exclaim in wonder.
My favorite so far was this gangster-type who saw me stopped at a red light at Magnolia and College. He turned to his friends and said loudly, "Dayum! He has a MOTOR on his $^&(!" I had to resist the urge to burst out laughing; his amazed tone of voice was priceless.
I've gotten to the point where I ride every day now. Main thing I hope for now, is to connect with (an)other rider(s) in Fort Worth here so I don't have to always ride alone.
