Sat April 13th 2013 is the Next SoCal Motor Bicycle Racing Event

from a facebook group here is a pic of what can happen to ya when
you don't wear a helmet.
If he was wearing a helmet it would have to be replaced but who
wouldn't take that choice?

If you want to come to the race but don't have a DOT helmet you
can borrow one of the Go Kart rental helmets from Grange.

Actually racing on a track with gear is much, much safer than riding
a motorized bike on the streets for obvious reasons. No one has gotten
seriously hurt at any of the 5 previous SoCal Motor Bicycle Racing events.
We have an EMT at the track from a very professional company, Medics On
The Ball.

although i dont race in that class. [lucky for them] i think the premier race should be 20 lap's. a true test of man and machine. or 30/40 minutes plus 3 lap's. hopefully baird will chime in with his thoughts. dennis

You and I don't get a vote because we don't race in that class so
it ain't important what we want.

hey Neil, add another 20 lapper from Dennis.
and if Arrow gets 1 vote then piston bikes should only get 1 vote.

Arrow Motorized Cycles is putting up $200
SoCal Motor Bicycle Racing $5 per rider in the class.

Anyone else want to kick in some purse money?

We need another $125 to pay down to 5th place.

Seriously why would Dennis get a vote?

Dennis or anyone else that isn't racing in the Pro class
doesn't get a vote.

Rodney is not Piston Bikes so he gets a vote.
 
sorry dennis. i'm not racing, so nothing i say wil count. but what no one is saying here, is that most of our "high performance" 2 strokes won't last much more than 10-12 laps. if no one can build a race motor capable of running a 20 lap race, you might as well just line up in one place and rev your engines till they blow up. last guy running wins.

since i'm on the subject, the heat races won't matter at all if you only have 10 +/- "pro" riders. there's no reason to even run them, since it won't lead to a favorable starting position.

why not just have one 20 lap final with no heats? that's less than 2-6 lap heats and a 12 lap final.

since everyone's gonna sandbag (i would, too) through the heats since there's (finally) money and prizes on the line, what's the point of the heats? no one wants to blow a motor before the final, right?

but you guys seem to be talking enough BS without me getting involved, so...

I guess I don't know what 'Rodney pistonbikes #86' means.

Dennis pays his entry fee just as anyone else does and you take his money with a smile on your face. He's a participant at the event as a racer, a spectator and a volunteer. Nobody should get discredited because of the bikes they choose to build or race. His voice counts just as much as anybody.

What don't you understand about the concept that only the racers
in the Pro class get to vote on how many laps they want in that class?

Dennis ain't in the Pro Class so he and ALL the other racers that come
don't get a vote too. In this specific case he doesn't count along with
everyone else including myself.

Looks like you have been out voted by your fellow racers and the
66 cc 2 Stroke Pro final will be 12 laps.

All the other classes are going to have 10 laps finals on April 13th.

We are adding another class this race, the 2 Stroke Amateur so
that adds another hour to the day with two 6 lap heats and a 12 lap final.

Only doing 10 laps instead of 12 saves 2 laps x 5 classes so keeps the
time around the same, at least doesn't make the day too long.

the average lap time is, what, a minute and a half? a 6 lap heat takes about 10-15 minutes, and a 12 lap final takes less then 20.

your races are notorious for starting late, 2+ hour lunches, extra long practice breaks after all the heats and before the finals are run (with hardly anyone on the track actually practicing, except for chicks in chain-mesh stockings,) not too mention past races where you let supermoto guys crash around the track during our practices...

not entirely your fault, because i know how hard it is to get racers to line up on time (besides the guys working on their bikes, i don't understand why it's so hard to finish your beer and get on the track...)

tighten up the schedule and you could run a few hundred more laps.

The vote is
5 for 12 laps or less

2 for 15 laps
1 for 20 laps

You are clearly out voted and the Pro Class will race 12 laps.
All the the other Classes will be racing 10 laps.

Two 15 laps votes are not the same as your 20 lap vote.
You are the only vote for 20 laps.

PistonBikes doesn't have a team and Rodney pays for and
builds his own bikes. He gets a vote.
