It's a busy time of the year, but I'm going to do my best to be at the 12/7 race... :)

What are the different classes of races on the oval track??
cool, time to see how much fun oval and modified oval racing is.

We will race the usual race classes depending on who shows up on Dec 7th.

26 days to go!

ALL SMBR racevents now are having pre-registration to help schedule them.

No one has emailed yet so I have no idea what classes we are having
except that there will be a GoPed race class for the first time.

Sunrise to Sunset so there will be lots of track time

The $35 race entry will be discounted to $30 IF you email to pre-register.

The cut off date for pre-registration is WEDNESDAY DEC 4th at Midnight:

Race entry fee is $30 if you pre- register by emailing: [email protected]

Race entry is $35 if you show up on Dec 7th without emailing

Everyone pays at the track on Dec 7th so pre paying is not being done.

Everyone who emails will get my phone #

When you email please state: Please put your RACE # in the email subject.

1] Your name and forum handle plus RACE #

2] What Gopeds / kart / moped / bike / bikes that you are racing.
and in what classes.

3] Are you arriving Fri or Sat?

4] Do you have all the safety gear?

5] Are you coming with any spectators?

Also Willow Springs has a separate $10 gate fee for everyone with kids under 8 being free.

The $10 gate fee is good for Fri, Sat & Sun with re- entry based on the wrist band.
There no extra charge to camp and watch the action on all the tracks.

Thanks!

I think there are 2 classes Norm...... 1.) 200cc 4-strokes and 2.) everybody else.

Possibly GoPeds and a few other contraptions as well :D It's a free for all.....fastest bike wins!

Don't forget your Dramamine...
neither you nor I know how many or what classes will be run. :)

What happened on the July and Sept summer night races won't be the
same as Dec 7th.
Actually you missed the Sept oval race and between you and me I was
rather unhappy about how the sept race was unorganized and rather chaotic.

Live and learn, so the Dec 7th racevent is going to be stepped up to be a
more organized Fun day.

PLEASE PRE-REGISTER AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. 26 days to go!
thanks.

Just got the DVD the other day and was up late uploading the race to YouTube. 4-stroke main filmed by magrider's & my dad

http://youtu.be/tEsmTB-P6zc
Thank You for the video, Dave!
Hope you can make all the 2014 races. :)

That was the Midrange Class final race that includes 2 strokes like
headtramas and Wild Bill's 50 cc KTM
I can't think of any other 2 strokes but a 5.8 Morini and others
would be in the class too.

Thanks to all the racers who take and post their track video's!!!
headtrama gets them done first. :)
scotto
#808 Dan
Wild Bill
nashmoto
and ????
It is the sizzle that this wacky motors on bicycles sport needs to take off.

I will be posting them on facebook when I get the time and one of these days
on a SMBR website.

Re: October 2013 Race At Grange?

11 hp + UNLIMITED CLASS + Fast Mopeds

#174 Christophe Naulet NOPED 1st
#191 Ryan Mayer - mojavemesa NOPED 2nd
1st #87 Jeff Fitzgerald ARROW MOTORIZED CYCLES JOKER MACHINE Billet Trophy
2nd #3 Scotto
3rd #80 Blayze AFFORDABLE GO KARTS
4th #98 Brian - nashmoto 1st 11 HP Class JOKER MACHINE Billet Trophy
5th #81 Shane AFFORDABLE GO KARTS
6th #8 Steve - magrider 2nd 11 HP VMB T ShirtDISQUALIFIED
7th #300 Jack MOPED
Due to a comment on the SMBR facebook page it has come to my attention that the #8 Morini race bike ridden by magrider on Oct 19th did not have functioning pedals which is one of the few rules so his 2nd place finish is disqualified.

The #8 Morini had no front pedal sprocket and no chain!!!
The too short cheater cranks are bad enough but this flagrant
violation of the rules is beyond the pale!!!!
:D laff laff

This bike was sold to Norm at Venice Motor Bikes and is up for
sale right now by VMB.
This was about the only bike to use moped tires and rims so
seeing it probably isn't racing again the rule allowing moped
tires is being amended to:
NO motorcycle or Moped tires allowed.
Bicycle tires Only.

Bairdco's Pirelli moped tires will be grandfathered in as long as
he continues to use them.

I don't remember anyone else that is using moped tires?

Are China Girls with a piston port reed setup allowed in the Amateur class?
Why are you asking? :)
The answer is maybe.
The Amateur class is a mix of bike and rider so it depends on who is riding it.
The rider would have to be a real novice to the track and racing.

Your son with a Reed on his shifter bike is probably up a class to the Intermediate class.

We sort that stuff out in the heats and with a little common sense.

One Reeded bike was #90 15 year old Matt on his Arrow junior stingray
and he did win battling it out with Dave old bikers son.

Matt didn't run away from the field however and he stepped up to the
Intermediate class at the Oct 19th race on a de-tuned full size Arrow bike
and was in the back of the pack.

It isn't easy to figure out which goes where but we got a pretty good handle
on it now and it is a Fun race after all even though there was that $450 board
track frame and tank from Silver State as a big prize for the winner.

living the dream in southern california
the pirellis are awesome, but i can't keep up in the straights. it takes more hp to keep up with a bike with bigger wheels. if we ever find a track with no long straights i might use them again unless you ban them.

and yeah, got a 24" speedster. i wanna build a lightweight racer instead of some of the tanks i've been riding. even my blue and red bike weighed 70lbs. i'd like to get the bike under 50lbs...

I have at least 10 GoPed guys coming to the Dec 7th racevent.

Not one of you motorized bike guys has "officially" registered by emailing me.
#59 headtrama and #69 Edan said they are coming.
#68 Norm is a maybe.

This Dec racevent is an experiment that will be canceled or moved a week back if it rains or the weather is really bad.
If hardly anyone wants to go that is OK with me.
I was just trying to give everyone, especially the racers who have built specialized race bikes a full year's schedule of 6 races to use them from April to December.

This smaller race would be a good one to come to have a meeting to discuss what we are doing in 2014 and to deal with other issues.
