I will run the magneto with the fan section intact, the wide crank kit from Sportscar Pat gives me the needed clearance.

Everything aligned and welded up.

I'm glad you've got the fan, it means that rear cyclinder will have some relief. Will you make a shroud to guide the airflow, or leavite as it is?

I had installed my new tires and then decided that I did not like the fenders that I was using all that much.

A DELUXE ride like the Maytag Flyer required something with a little more style.

A little shopping found me these and an afternoon in the shop got them fit into place. I just need to weld up the old unused holes.

I don't know if those are the fenders in question but they do have a vintage appeal to them, just my opinion but I'd keep em! and if there are some extra holes you may consider drilling a few more evenly spaced and then rivet them with a ploished head, but again I like them and they look good on the bike!

Looks better all the time. It's amazing how tiny the engine appears now. I'm looking forward to seeing what you build for exhaust. Are you considering expansion chambers ?

There are online calculators that you can use to set them up for specific RPMs. Perhaps if you were to build them to "come on the pipe" at slightly different speeds, you could broaden the torque curve a bit.

I am not sure they benefit a piston port engine as they do to a reed valve engine. So I think for this engine just a pair of about 18" to 20" collectors merging into a low restriction custom made muffler. However more research is required when I get to that stage.

The information is correct, you can make expansion pipes to suit a specific engine and required characteristics, but I'd leave it very much the way Maytag made it. The metal is old and was only ever designed for the stresses it produced as standard, so increasing them might be detrimental.
