I've been following this thread for a little bit now and I check back daily on it. I really enjoy all ya'lls postings! It definitely brightens my days. :)

Dogs have been a special part of my life since I was a child. The current love of my dog life is a sassy little diva pug. She's about to turn 4 and doesn't look or act a day over 1. She's SO full of personality and compliments my personality well. She's sassy but goofy and doesn't take life too seriously. She such a sweetheart but mess with me and she uses her tiny mouth to solicit terror upon your calves! :) She joins me at work every day and is also fun to just kick it with while watching TV. She's taught me not to take life so seriously and loyalty. However, she sometimes does things that make me question her mental integrity. Times like those I wish she could talk! Ha!

Either way, I look forward to continuing to read this thread and hear about all the crazy critters out there in the world and the shenanigans they get into! Cheers!

the lesson i have learned from my dog....

licking your own butt is gross, unless you immediately lick someone else's face afterwards, in which case licking your own butt is hilarious.

Keep waking up to Stewie DeCat's handiwork on the PC. Yesterday he had opened 16 instances of Internet Explorer, started a malware program, opened a calculator and googled his own name by walking across the key board.

Ya just know the FBI is gonna be knocking on my door some day to inquire about kitty porn.

Now I ask you. How many dogs get bar-b-qued cookies when dad cooks on the grill? I marinate their treats in whatever my meat was in and put them on the grill next to my steak. They know what's going on and wait patiently for their portions.

I have a signal for when the cookies are all gone. I wave my hands and say, "That's it guys. We're done" and they go away satisfied but ready the next time when they smell the charcoal burning.
Dogs. You have to love them.

Dan,
At the moment I have a rather rotund feline who is a near mirror image of Sir Stewie the Illustrious trying feverishly to remove my left leg in a desperate attempt to inform me that it is indeed snack time and she has not yet received the rather meager, in her opinion, portion that is to be grudgingly handed out at 3pm exactly. All the while accompanied by the most pitiful wails of anguish that were ever forced upon the human ear.

In other words Fatty Catty want the goods or it won't go well for the old guy sitting at the computer.

My little dog has decided she wants to go all girly, daddy, daddy, help me up, when we both know she can jump up on to things when she wants. As evidenced by the fact that if you leave the room and come back, some mysterious force will have lifted her on to the bed or the sofa etc.

Lesson learned here is "Don't leave the dog door open after dark!" Having joked about "Ding Dong" bringing us one of the little black and white furry scavenger creatures that rule the night here for years. It finally happened a couple weeks ago. It was so strong in the house you could taste it and boy was he in misery. It appears he got it right in the face before he put an end to it all. I'm sure he hasn't learned much but he has been bringing in tomatoes off the vine instead of rabbits, snakes, etc. and we have learned when the sun goes down, no outdoor activity without supervision.

1) If you don't like a situation, you always have the option to walk away.

2) A little bit of encouragement goes a long way.

3) Just about anyplace is a great place to take a nap.

4) Don't act guilty when you fart around others.

Number 4 is important when you're a 85 pound Golden Retriever laying on the sofa with dad when he's reading a book.

He's so silent about it too. Don't hear a thing until the aroma gets me. Occasionally he'll raise his head and look at me with an expression that says, " Dad, was that you?"

the thing I have learned about owning chihuahua's is to always look down while Im walking, they poop kinda small and it always zero's in on the bottom of my feet. LOL
Man, them little Mexican Pit Bulls are a hoot.
Our present pack is just three of them, our last pack was 5 of them
Learned really quickly that they are a better judge of character than I'll ever be.
If they don't like somebody, there's a reason and they see through any illusion no matter how well the person pretends to be your friend.

My moniker here is in tribute to my first little guy:
Extra Fancy Cosmic Kid (AKC registered name)
He loved to ride in my jacket when I was on my bike.

I looked at the chart for the cat. Well sometimes the cat just wants to sit on your lap and will only tolerate petting for a certain amount of time, before like what I had happen, was a set of fangs into to area a the crux of my thumb and forefinger. After not for some reason screaming out loud, my dad saw what a relatives cat was doing to my hand and squeezed on its jaws and the fangs let go. Learned a lesson that day!
