LOL. I have a lot of friends who get nostalgic when they hear the song, Smoke gets in your eyes.

I'm planning things for bike camp already. Silverbear and I haven't gotten down to the final planning yet but we'll let you know what's being planned as we go.

This thread is like following a trail as it winds through the woods. The topic changes as it goes along. Some day we'll get on the tri car and ride away but until then feel free to post about what ever you like.

I'm just sitting here on the group W bench, I mean.... naw really I just had a few sips of some 3 month old now home brew beer and was seeing following a trail as it winds through the woods. It caught my eye even with the afore mentioned and I don't throw garbage down a hill. Not even on Thanksgiving.

My motor bike is legal only off road, and thought someone else uses there motor bikes off road. Not likely for the Tadpole I suspect!

Soon a bigger better used 90000 series Briggs 3hp in place of the worn 80000 series 3hp Briggs. Hope some trail riding before the end of the year. A few more things like chain cut to size and testing new setup to see if it runs OK.

I was wondering if a old centrifugal clutch with the name brand Horstman Manufacturing Company. http://www.horstmanclutches.com/product_index.asp but I cannot seem to find the old clutch of theirs that has the name on it. Also at the time different location in Monrovia California.

Just was thinking it looks OK now but since I cleaned rust off every part inside it as much as I could but, the springs I would like to put new ones in or have them on hand for later.

Web page and photos of the old clutch shown. I will call on Monday if they are not on early vacation.

I'm thinking that if I can part of a day that is dry enough to weld I'll tack the seat and chain stays and find a welder to finish welding them up. Looks like a long and nasty winter and that will speed things along.

I had had forgot to check on the springs and will now that maybe holiday is over they are back.

Inside working on the bike I am making progress putting all together to use newer used Briggs. It was such a while ago that I was going to grind some sheet metal I marked and now it is late for doing grinding.

I thought of a quiet nibbler tool I used to have. It was really only for light weight electronic chassis making. I would have just smoothed it out by grinding it later, so tomorrows another day.

About the springs I will also check with Tony1 about where he gets those different springs for some clutches I see him using. I suspect the clutches I saw him using are newer than this old rusty clutch.

Just looking to see about trail riding when done, so I while checking locations saw this link about studded tires:

We are supposed to get three days next week that will be sunny and about 30F. I'll try and talk me old pal Art Ritis into getting out and welding up the rest of the frame.

Steve, Art has been visiting with me for the past several days, real good. I'll suggest he gets with you and maybe go visit for as long as he wants.

Not really well. I didn't realize the lousy $&^#@**&^% had a key to the front door. Now I'm trying to talk him into going to Arizona for a while but the free loading no good says he's along for the ride but he's not helping with the gas.

You bet Curt and to make matters worse he only drinks liquor that is found on the top shelf. None of that bottom shelf, off brand, junk for him. It wouldn't bother me so much if he didn't have his hand in my wallet to pay for it.

I'm learning more all the time fellas. Don't really have the liquor issue except for a little local moonshine and he never found that. I do have to pay for the needed pain relief prescriptions which I try to use judiciously, and with two days of cool rainy weather ahead, I have a feeling he'll be back by morning. This guy gets around better than I do.

Cool rainy weather is a definite accelerator for Art. Unfortunately that kind of weather is what makes up most of our winter.

I've been making a tea from turmeric and ginger and it does help out with the pain. There are lots of recipes on the web but I use this one.

Boil 2 cups water and reduce heat to a simmer. Add a dash of black pepper. The pepper helps the tea get into your system about 2,000 times faster.

Add 1/2 tsp ginger and turmeric mixed together.

Simmer for 10 minutes.

Let it steep for 10 minutes.

I let it filter through a paper towel in a sieve unless the grit left behind doesn't bother you.

I add honey to sweeten it a little. Use it twice a day with a meal.

Check with your doctor before you use this. It may react with some medicine and diseases. It also acts as a blood thinner.

I buy the turmeric and ginger in bulk from a grocery store. The bottles of spices are way too expensive.

Yes it works for me.

No, there is no alcohol. Just this tea, regular tea and soda water.

Thank you kindly for sharing that recipe. I am going to try that. Ever since 2010, I have been having "barometric joints" and if this has been working for you, I'm game. Some days, Tylenol isn't much help. And that gets expensive too. Not much more the doc can do for me; I already watch my diet and have lost ten pounds on my own this past year. I know where to get spices in bulk too, so we'll see how this goes.

Your welcome A.W. I usually don't post recipes like this because they are a medicine. Turmeric and ginger have been used for centuries as medicines. There are warnings on the net about using them with certain other medicines and health conditions. I can't stress this enough.

I just found my notes for some of the things that you shouldn't/can't use this tea with without check with you doctor.

Using blood thinners or have low blood pressure.

Congestive heart failure.

Gallstones.

Liver disease.

Jaundice.

Acute bilious colic.

Blood clots and there are others listed on the wed sites.

I was using them with 2 400mg Ibuprofen tablets but my usual heartburn from spicy things went to a volcanic intensity. Like swallowing melted lead intensity so I don't use Ibuprofen with it any more. This is just me and I think a by product of all the antibiotics they pumped into me to kill the bone infection I had. It did a number on my stomach when when it killed my stomach bacteria.

Hope it works for you and anyone trying it. It doesn't leave me pain free but it does reduce the pain a great amount and enables me to function a lot better.

I used to take the turmeric tablets and the MSM tablets for joint pain. One each in the morning and one each in the evening. My Doctor recommended them, it took about 2 weeks before they really kicked in, but even during the 2 weeks I could tell they were working. After my triple bypass in February, the Doctor told me to quit taking them until I got back to normal. I could tell the day after that I had stopped. Now I am waiting to start again.
