I was wondering if they spun the generator over and held a file against it to hollow out the armature to get more contact on the tire?

Now you need a set of rusty old forks there will be a national shortage. It would be great to see it back on the road even with a paint job. Ingenuity that you won't see much these days.

The headlight brackets are finished up. One set for the Epic and one set for the Indian Tri Car. I'll order another set of headlights soon. Working on the best way to attach them to seat of the Indian and the delivery box on the Epic. I think that I'll go with a piece of the 1-1/2" x 1/8" steel I used for the brackets screwed and epoxied to the wood then I can use riv nuts to bolt the brackets on.

I pop riveted the cast iron brackets to the headlight mounts I made using the screw holes in the cast iron brackets which are shelf brackets in another life. The metal sticking up with the two holes in it are where the brass lights will attach. For some reason the photo is sideways.

I posted this on the Epic thread and forgot to post it here.

Mounted one of the headlight mounts on the Indian Tri Car and put the brass light on it to an idea how they will look. I have longer bolts for the lights and when the light is mounted permanently the bolts will run through some copper gas line to hold the light even to compensate for the shape of the light body.

I purchased the lights from Cool-one Bike Outdoor Store on Aliexpress. It's listed as Retro Bike Copper Light. They are brass. They have some nice brass tail lights as well. Make sure you are ordering either the head light or the tail light. I ordered what I thought were head lights and received tail light and kept them but had to order the head lights. They charged me for tail lights. They use 18650 cells for power. I purchased an inexpensive batter charger to charge them. Batteries were included.

They have cheap switches to turn them on and off. I bought some brass lamp switches and drilled out the holes. The switches roll on and off.

The brackets are on Amazon. They are cast iron shelf brackets. If you doing this there are a lot of choices of brackets. The legs on the brackets are 5".

Glad to hear you are more able Steve. I got no use for Chiropractors, same one I was using damn near paralyzed Mona.
I have since developed a self-performed therapy that has worked well for me.
I would look to a Physical Therapist or a Physiotherapist. They are different. Both in there own way work on range of motion and mobility. You, Old Boy will be a challenge for even the best of them.
I'm rooting for ya. ;)

Yes you got to be careful on who you go to, I went to a regenitive chiropractor, witch combined both therapy and treatment. Took most of the summer, 3 time a week then 2 times then 1, now I go in for a adjustment now and then. I can feel it in my back, when needed.
Glad you are up and at it Steve, I am also shoulder not to bad now, if I could just get my eye to do the same, checking into a specialist for it.
I spent a lot of this summer helping a friends wife, my friend passed on this spring and she was left with a big mess, from his hording. She didn't know what to charge or any value of the stuff, or no way to haul the stuff. They had a trailer, so when she got it full sometimes with my help, I would haul it mostly to the scrap iron place, iron was up this spring also, she made a big haul $ wise one small load of copper and stuff.
IT WAS A BIG WAKUP CALL FOR ME! I bought a few tools one was a nice jet drill press, but wasn't much I already have. I took a trailer load of my stuff to swap meet got rid of 2 drill presses, and a bunch of other stuff. Mid sept. I am going to take another load, just which I had a bigger trailer. LOL. I am getting rid of a lot of old excess, stuff I will no long use or get at. It hurts a bit, but more fun then hurt, with a little chicken feed in the hand. Best .........Curt

Tom,
I should have gone to the chiropractor at least a year ago. I wasn't up to someone pushing and pulling on me since the pain level was all I could handle and I can withstand a lot of pain and have. I realized that I had to do something since the pain wasn't going away on it's own.

This doctor attends to some of my family members and they have had excellent results. He was very cautious given that I'm less than a month away from 79. The results were surprising. Not totally pain free but its been greatly reduced.

He did say repeatedly that my muscles were tight. Still a challenge to the best of them. It's a good thing he's young.

Great to hear Mona didn't come to any harm. It was a reminder just how sensitive we are to having someone pushing and pulling of our physical selves.

Curt,
I have a number of boxes waiting to be mailed to my son and I'm adding to them every week. Our post office is in the corner of a local pharmacy so once everything is packed up, I'll start sending them two at a time so I don't over whelm them with a tsunami od boxes.

Fed-Ex and U.P.S. will charge my son a fee for delivering them. They claim it's for clearing them through customs even though they are marked as a gift. It isn't inexpensive either. I do the customs pre clearance work on the computer for both the U.S. and Canadian customs And the last batch I sent to N.H. took six days from when I dropped them off to when he received them.

Having worked for years for an auctioneer I have seen too many situations like your friend left his wife. Thankfully he had a good and knowledgeable friend who stepped in to help.

Yeah, Steve. Getting to the Autumn/Winter of our lives definitely isn't a walk in the park. You have my sympathy. Spent Mon/Tues/Wed of this week virtually bed-bound due to severe back pain which meant my right leg was in spasm and unable to take my weight. Came on mysteriously overnight in my sleep and couldn't stand for 3 days. Then on Thursday I woke up right as rain. Vanished as suddenly and mysteriously as it arrived. Weird. But I sure as **** can do without a reoccurrence.

And like Curt says in his post, I'm gonna have to organize a clear-out of all the stuff relating to my moth-balled business that I have stashed in my in-law's garage in Amble. They're moving house in a couple of week's time and there's a bunch of my stuff that's been there since our house move. To be honest, I'm not even sure it's worth my while stashing it all here at the flat in Alnwick. Can't ever see me re-starting business again so time to bite the bullet and maybe dump most of it at the local council tip. Then I'll have to give serious thought what to do with the stuff I'm paying good money to stash at the local storage facility here in town. Really should have dealt with that two or three years ago instead of spending a hundred quid a month storing stuff I'm probably only gonna chuck away or donate to a charitable cause. I have everything I need here, so other than the bikes I have in storage, I really don't need to hang on to anything else. I've heard folks say it's 'freeing' to de-clutter. So here's to freedom!

The assets of your business must have sone value Pete, instead of the tip, sell the assets.
Lord knows there are many RR hobbyists.

The sciatica needs looking into for cause. Left untreated, things just get worse. We are living in a world of wonder today. Doctors actually know what they are doing.

Maybe lying around too much also is not good. I lifted some stuff a bit too heavy I'd guess. It was my lower back. For a couple days taking it easy. Then yesterday after doing oil and filter change and crawling under my truck, it was even less noticeable. My cervical spine compressed disk is the same, and I use inversion table for that occasionally. If my knees hurt, I don't go hang upside down though. The table I can just still be short of that and can set the maximum angle. I got creative yesterday as the air filter on the truck had in the enclosure acorns that were severed in half and shredded cloth and paper towel. Mice, I posted no trespassing except for air to the intake to the air filter. OK, I took a worn old cake cooling rack and snipped a grill wire mesh cover on the inside tube that goes to the housing of the air filter. I realized the grill should be at the entrance to the tube. Trouble is it is at the very confined area behind the grill work below the hood. Maybe one day I will see about putting the cake rack part at that point. Twist tie wire doubled up goes through inlet tube and holds the second grill work (cake rack part) in place. Use the part of hood closure adjustment post to tie wire snugged tight.

Pete, I know how you feel about everything you've saved up from the train days. Sad part today is that the people interested in taking your business on even if it was free for the taking are diminishing daily as we age. The young people coming along aren't interested and probably the pool of enthusiasts is shrinking as well.

Maybe an ad in a model train journal will find someone interested.

As with the furniture refinishing trade, people are going to IKEA and when that furniture falls apart they just go back and purchase more. I haven't used my tools in over 15 years but they are at the ready if anything should come up.

I hope there hasn't been a reoccurrence of your leg pain. Once is more than enough.

Steve.
