I remember those pant stretchers and the sock stetchers as well. Some were metal like the pant streachers and were adjustable for different sizes and some of them were thin wood with big holes in them to help dry the socks. They came in different sizes as well.

We had 3 channels in my part of Canada. Channel 6 which was the Canadian channel and 2 and 4 which were in Buffalo and it was that way for years. Then we had channel 13 which was a private channel, where channel 6/CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corp.) was run by the federal government and still is.
In the late 60'S we hit pay dirt when the local cable company needed a place to put a system to service the area and my cousin who was one of the managers asked if they could put it in the attic of our house in return for free cable.
It was easy street after that when it came to tv watching.

I used to collect old radio shows on tape. (That's like CDs kids, but they are rectangular and have brown stuff inside)
You can get them at local libraries as well.

Of all my tapes, I never heard the end of one. Always fell asleep and had some wild dreams.
OH Man! Look at some of the titles on that link! Even news reports. I really like the commercials. "...with child and feeling run down? Light up a lucky strike. Your worries will go up in smoke" OK, That's an exaggeration but not by much...

There was also a couple of Mozart CDs and a couple of Beatles too. They did take my gloves and all the change out of my console but left me my music.

That's funny in it's own way. The reason they didn't take your CD case is because they don't understand good music. The standard in music today seems to be if you can't sing, wear fewer clothes.
My son, when he was 16, came home one day and I had some Buddy Holly cranking. His comment was "That's the music from h*ll".

The bums took my case of cassettes which were all contemporary christian music and maybe a year later I had a dude steal a book of checks...he wrote one to buy a Ryrie Study Bible at the Baptist book store LOL Can you say paper moon LOL

Heres another my dad pointed out : Do you remember when young men still thought you were dangerous? Dad was a wrestler many years ago,(out of Atlanta) some of you older guys might remember the Crome Dome him and 2 midgets got their butts whooped by Andre the Giant. He also took on Bruno Samartino. Ive still got some of the home movies.

I remember my friends grandad ran the concession stand at the Carrollton Ga. Wrestling arena every Saturday night, he would tell us stories of what he saw. He said once he saw a woman get so excited during a heated match involving two well matched wrestlers, she ate the styrofoam cup she had been drinking soft drink from. He always said he didn't make a lot of money but the "entertainment was great ".

Seeing a church bus reminded me: you remember when school buses had big steel handles and linkage to open the doors? And they were all diesel and stick-shift? And they had an awful-sounding AM radio that the bus driver would torture the kids with. I remember the 27, how it would clatter up our middle-of-nowhere street with its diesel death-rattle. With a *creak-thunk* the door would open and we'd get on. No little pop-out stop signs back then; no little yellow, slow-kid butt smacker on the front bumper. I always supposed it was the oldest bus in the fleet...until one day:

The way the bodywork was rounded and how the lights up top had visors on them all spoke of a much earlier time. It was quiet on board too, except for the engine and tranny. Somebody asked why the radio wasn't on. Brian piped up "This bus was built before radio!" (Smart Aleck.)
This church bus I saw was one of those buses.

Back in the 60s a guy broke into my pickup in the parking lot at the bar I was playing country music in. He broke the wing vent and stole my nice shiny chrome 8 track and tapes. He didn't take CB because everybody had one by then. A few nights later a guy comes walking into the bar trying to sell a shiny new 8 track and some tapes, I went over and took a look at it and by golly my name was etched on the bottom of it! He made a bline for the door but i had the bouncer stop him, then we called the law. I pressed charges got my 8track and tapes back after a few weeks from the police station but I had to fix my own window in the truck.

I used to skate on mine down the driveway. hahaha. I used to tie a rope to it and pull it because I didn't have a radio control car. The new ones are plastic turds with weak axles. I'd have destroyed it on day one if I'd gotten that when I was a kid.
They had to stop selling those big Tonka trucks. Too heavy and dangerous, you might drop it on your foot and they had sharp edges a kid might cut himself on.

My second grade teacher called my mom one day...told her you gonna hafta do something about this boy! She asked what now? I was jumping out of the swingset while wearing a neck brace (I had a sprang collar bone). That swingset was one of the really big ones & I was way high jumping outa that thing LOL

I remember the old buses you describe, well. The schools I went to used them, and many truck and bus training schools use them. I think you can buy a school bus for $1000-4000 very easily, especially a gas v8 with hydraulic brakes (no CDL needed).
People are still using them for campers and I've even seen lumber trucks made from them. hahaha. (chop the cab and build a wall back there, then you can stack full length lumber in the "bed".)

Still have my 1973 International 66 pass camper bus with the 345 cid eng. With complete kitchen and frig. Custom made screens for half the windows.
Built it in Wi 1980. School bus`s are geared low for ajj the stops and starts. We put a 2 speed rear axle in it, cruise at 70 + on the Interstate`s, Lot of fine memories, campin, fishing, deer hunting and party`s. Added 2 extra fuel tanks = 100 gals, long range.
Still call my Tree Service Trucks; My Tonka Trucks, and yes, they are Yellow. Makes people smile, ole man with Tonka Trucks. lol
Never had Tonka Toys as a kid, but my children did.
