I would go for transfer type, with clear backing on them, nice & easy to apply & get lined up correctly on the tank. Waterslide could be an adventure...?

The Build is finally up and going again. I have finally got enough time to work on the bike. I have just bought a 90mm sturmey archer front drum, ordered some 11g spokes and bought some 39mm wide Mountain bike wheels.
Once these items arrive I will have finished the bike minus paint.

WOW they are cheap, i cant recall what i paid for mine (i ordered mine from a bike shop but laced them myself) but it was waaaaaay more then that. Thanks for the headsup Whitey. Would love to see more pictures of your project.

Just wondering, did you try and find a squarer rim (more like a worksman rim) which would look more authentic? Your wheels will be strong, no doubt, but do you worry they will look a little too modern?
Ive bought two different style mtb rims but both sorts were more of a "U" shape rather then the "V" shape like you have. I cant recall off hand the brand of my rims.

I did look for some squarer rims, but I couldn't find any that fit the price I was willing to spend and the width I was looking for. I don't mind that they will look a little bit more modern if they don't fail on me ever
I paid less then that for mine, but i cant recall the brand but i bought 2 sets new. oh well. I am still happy with them seeing as the wheelset will end up costing me allot less than a set of worksman wheels from the US. I don't mind that they don't look entirely the part
Im sure they will look fine, just thought id let you know for your next build.... and yeah postage from the U.S blows..... i just went to order a hub from the U.S and they want $75 which is more then the price of the hub :-( ..... its not easy or cheap for us here in OZ!!!!!!
been a while. Today I built up the front wheel with 12G 4 cross lacing pattern. I love the sturmey archer hub, the bearings are silky smooth. I also cut and soldered the throttle cable which is now the perfect length

Good on ya Mate, a lot of the later Racers did away with the pedals too, though on my bikes I keep them so I can pedal away on my "bicycle" if the coppers are around.

thanks for all the comments guys. I am really getting excited as it is so close to completion/being rideable. I will not be painting it for a few weeks, incase I have to a bit of re-welding, but I doubt I will have to
It's definitely got the right look to it, for an old-school racer. Great job, this. This is a mucking-cool bike. Show us more pics when it's painted please.
